Granted, one reason why people are on so many anti-depressants is that they are cheaper than actual therapy and they are practically just throw at patients. I am sure many of the people on SSRIs almost certainly benefit from other treatment or even simple talk therapy but that takes time and money.

Also, once you live out of the states, you realize how competitive and lonely a country it is. There is a real mental toll that comes with extreme competitive individualism.
