In Training: Jun 28, 2008

The Imp Zone Invitational is a double elimination tournament played on FIghtCade. The frequency and games played will change based on continued interest. Hell maybe if people are feeling saucy they can put prizes on the line or something, like steam keys from humble bundles and stuff.

The first game will be Waku Waku 7, with competition taking place on Sunday April 9 at 2PM EST Sign ups for the first iteration are available here: http://challonge.com/tournaments/signup/0JZL5hKRyI The time can be changed if more people are free earlier or later but I'd like to stick with sunday if possible.

If anyone has any questions about how to get FightCade working or wants to practice some WW7 before the event, this is the thread for it!! Ill stream the event as well for the hell of it

SUre thing. You can download the client here: https://www.fightcade.com/ The interface will list a ton of games, including specifically what ROM (or set) it requires. Once you finish dumping your Neo Geo cart to your pc, put the file in the ROM directory where you installed fightcade and then you can play online! its pretty magical that it works tbqh, its cool that all these old games have pretty much flawless online functionality.

once you have it installed you can challenge yourself (double click on your name on the right hand side player list) to enter a 1P mode and bind inputs and mess around in arcade mode.

as a general tip as Ive been playing, this game gives you so much loving meter that you sjhould just be burning it constantly. There are some characters that have super animations that are so long that if you confirm the attack you will actually end up positive on meter at the end of the process lol.

It's harder to do the inputs because the controls aren't analog, there's a lot of dead zone between the cardinal directions. But really you can play with anything that feels comfortable

so for clarification, every round will be a best of 3, only the loser can change characters between matches. the winners/losers/grand finals will be a best of 5, whoever came out of losers has to win two sets in the grand finals.
