I do think Danny Rose is right up there at this point, if not the best at his position in the league. Spurs look a lot stronger going forward against good teams and much more stable at back with him in there. The last time Spurs really had trouble with someone in the league was at Anfield where Davies couldn't handle Mane. Rose is just much stronger both ways at this point.

He'd still probably do a job at Spurs as the Eriksen cover/competition/replacement

But if you assume Kante is just out there tackling the ball off people and getting in the way of passes, it probably misses the mark on him being a pretty good distributor of the ball. He certainly doesn't just hit a sideways pass and then go back to a holding position.
