I forgot about Earthworm Jim 3d, it's definitely that one. I loved the settings and the ending but boy is it awful.

Earthworm Jim 3D is nothing like those. It's hard to describe just how bad it is.

I had nothing but fond memories until a year or so ago when they put it up on steam and all the badness came flooding back in.

It's like Banjo Kazooie where levels are gated behind the note equivalents, except they are a pain in the rear end to collect and all the levels are huge and awful.

How 'bout those boss fights?

For all the lovely controls, bad feedback, dumb level design, and the fact that the game manages to make shooting your gun lovely, the worst sin is that the switch to blocky 3D graphics completely loses all of Doug Tennapel's artistic touch, which were a huge part of why the original games were so unique.

I have no idea why you would think that. Dude consistently says dumb poo poo on Twitter, gets called out, and then calls it censorship when you criticize him. Also, socialism is awful, except when it is used to fund my bad game. (I actually didn't know Armikrog was even released)

Do people consider the Donkey Kong Country games to be collectathons? Sure, they had like ten different varieties of coins to worry about, but they were hardly mandatory.

You could probably make an argument for the third one, where you can see the groundwork being laid for their N64 titles, but either way those games have good enough gameplay between all the items that it doesn't really matter. Which was not the case for BT or DK64

Some people bought it. Its basically MGS5 with drop-in drop-out co-op but no story at all. (Not that MGS5's story was great anyways) Seems pretty good if you want a co-op shooter, but I just bought a bunch of games so I'll probably wait for it to come down in price.

I tried so hard to give DKC3 a fair shot after 100%ing both 1 and 2 without using any kind of save states or cheats of any kind for the first time ever a year or two back. I just can't get into that game, it's not fun to me.

After you "beat" the game make sure you actually go back and mess around with all the new modes it unlocks, the challenge modes are badass and each one has its own unique graphical style as well as having new gameplay rules.

The very first one you unlock is a katana-only challenge where you can only use the katana in each level and you're super fast and have better reach and can slice bullets out of the air :hellyeah:
