Lindy's not a great coach, but he's pretty good. The Cats would be fun for a few years with him behind the bench.

Lots of speculation that Tim Murray meets with team owner Terry Pegula today to discuss the state of the team. I hope a lot of people get fired, and that one of those people that gets fired is none other than Dan Bylsma

Mind_Taker posted:Yeah I've never been impressed with Bylsma since he got to Buffalo. I get that he doesn't have much talent to work with but it's not the 2013-15 Sabres where they had literally an AHL roster. His continued insistence on using Ristolainen as an all-situations 25+ minutes defenseman seems really bad. I mean, Buffalo's roster isn't amazing, but they're nowhere near as bad as they play the majority of the time. He misuses players up and down the roster and puts virtually everyone in positions to fail. This is particularly true of the defense; I don't think they have a single defenseman whose performed better under Bylsma than they did before him. His system blows and he's boring as gently caress. I hate him and I want him to leave forever

I don't know that I completely agree with the the Murray firing, but he clearly mishandled the defense by ignoring it completely, and he also hired Dan Bylsma who is one of the worst coaches I've ever seen up close. It's ridiculous to think that lots of players are going to magically turn things around now that Bylsma isn't behind the bench, but when I said yesterday that virtually every single defenseman on the team saw their play tank under Bylsma, it wasn't a joke. His inflexibility was hurting everyone on the blueline, which was in-turn stifling the entire team at even strength. They had 0 transition game, it was appalling.

If I had to make a prediction for the Sabres' GM, I'm guessing they end up with one of Mike Futa, Julien BriseBois, or Jason Botterill. Futa was one of their top choices last time around, BriseBois seems like the ideal mix between experience and youth (though apparently there might be some contractual things that block him from leaving the organization at this time), and Pegula has lots of Pittsburgh connections that will likely have plenty of good things to say about Botterill. My preference is 1) BriseBois, 2) Futa, and 3) Botterill. In terms of likelihood, I'd rank them 1) Futa, 2) Botterill, and 3) BriseBois. All three would be perfectly fine choices though.

I hadn't heard if he is. there's been very little info about who has been interviewed or who has been contacted for interview thus far. guerin and chayka are the only two people there's been any solid info on, and a couple days ago there was a tweet that the kings had not yet been contacted about lombardi. pretty much everything else is speculation at this point.

Reports that Paul Fenton also interviewed with Buffalo this week. As of now, the list of confirmed candidates for the Sabres' GM position are: 1) Bill Guerin 2) Jason Botterill 3) Mike Futa 4) Tom Fitzgerald 5) Bill Zito 6) Paul Fenton I don't know what to expect from Guerin, Fitzgerald, or Zito, but I really like the other three. Still waiting to hear if BriseBois ends up interviewing

tanking is not widespread, is not a problem, and the new draft format is stupid as gently caress. these are objective truths, and if you disagree with any of these three points, you are a dumb gently caress. evidence: the NHL thinks tanking is widespread, is a problem, and the new draft format is smart.

ville got paid way too much, there's no disputing that. that has nothing to do with him crying and talking about his time here like being in jail. he left buffalo and never scored more than 10 goals in a season in the slew of european leagues he bounced around in, because he sucked rear end.
