According to my mom, this is the reason why The Big Bang Theory is still on the air. She mentions that once 20-somethings start calling / visiting their parents more often, the ratings would plummet. I'm pretty certain that the AoT manga is still insanely popular. I don't know if to the level that it was back when the anime got greenlit, but I'm fairly certain that for a lot of people outside Japan, the anime was THE poo poo. I know for a fact that my daughter's girlfriend got into Anime and Games because of it.

I know that Japanese sometimes like their Kanji/Hiragana to have this rough quality so it looks old school (Gintama does that a lot), but still: That was supposed to be the kanji for "Hayashibara". The Megumin is sorta recognizable... if you squint really hard.
