Some teeth long for ripping, gleaming wet from black dog gums. So you keep your eyes closed at the end. You don't want to see such a mouth up close. before the bite, before its oblivion in the goring of your soft parts, the speckled lips will curl back in a whinny of excitement. You just know it.

I checked out a book called The Philosophy of Batman once and after the lead story was a thoughtful examination of the trolley problem (just dressed up with it being a Joker deathtrap and Batman being forced to decide to pull the lever or not so it'd fit) that I really enjoyed, the next one was How Can We Tell Batman Is Not The Joker, and I go in thinking "okay, like, a multiple personality thing, or...?"
Nope. It was about how philosophy can help us prove that two completely different people are in fact not the same thing. Whereupon I closed the book in disgust and that was the end of it.

They stopped literally one issue off of finishing up the reprints, I don't buy that they did that willingly.

DC loses the rights to Watchmen if it ever goes out of print, so they had that early lesson in keeping certain TPBs on store shelves forever.

They recommended Strong Female Protagonist and now the whole site is dead. A fitting reward for such creatures.
(Just kidding, I miss Comics Alliance already but seriously? Did they actually read the comic before writing that column?)
I read the column to see what the gently caress they were on about and it mentioned basically nothing beyond the premise, so my most charitable guess is that they read a little bit of the first, actually good chapter and were like "yeah no reason to assume it doesn't keep on like this".

I think there were some sort of likeness rights issues with Bill Murray/the cast in general, which is also why the Real Ghostbusters cartoon didn't particularly look like the four main actors either. This coloring book took even more liberties, but maybe they were even more afraid of having to change things/getting sued.
That'd explain why Janosz and Vigo are on-model and Dana is at least close, I suppose.

Is it the regular hammer (rectangular) or the Ultimate one (shaped more like an axe)? Because it actually matters with regards to motivation. Still incredibly tone-deaf either way, though.

I guess I didn't realize that meant the hammer was sentient
Yeah, it's talked to Jane recently. Also it's an even worse look than you realize! Nazi Cap taking Jane's hammer is gonna look real loving bad with the "We hate diversity" wounds still fresh.

Young time displaced Iceman was outed, older Iceman has never identified as gay and has dated women.
Very, very badly. Like, look at this poo poo.
Wolverine and the X-Men 34, after they'd been dating for ten issues and several in-universe weeks, if not over a couple of months. And that was written before they decided he was gay.

What are some good Batman stories? I've read Year One, Killing Joke, Knightfall, Dark Knight Returns, The Man Who Laughs, Monster Men, and The Mad Monk. I like the more grounded stories where he's on his own but I don't care about those things as long as the story is good.
He's an accquired taste and works really high level, but you've basically got to at least try Morrison's run. Read Batman and Son, The Black Glove, and Batman R.I.P. and if it hasn't grabbed you by then, walk away with a clean conscience, but if you're digging it, there's a lot more.
I'm torn on whether or not to recommend Hush; it's basically the big Batman Fights Everybody story and it's drawn gorgeously by Jim Lee... but the plot isn't that great, but on the other hand if you're relatively new, Jeph Loeb's bullshit may not have worn thin for you and you might have a good time. It's not required reading, I guess, but there's worse things than the Batman-comic equivalent of a noisy blockbuster where if you turn off your brain you'll have a good time.
Scott Snyder's run on Batman is amazing and basically the only good thing that came out of the New 52 era. Start at Court of Owls and go from there, the reading list will be nice and straightforward. Once you're done with that run (it ends at Bloom), if you want more Snyder Batman, he's got a two-volume run on All-Star Batman that's not available in trade yet and is just finishing up. Just ignore the terrible retcon of Mr. Freeze's origin, and whatever you do, don't get Frank Miller's All-Star Batman and Robin by mistake.
Oh, and maybe A Death In The Family, which is important more from the impact it left than the actual story itself. Morrison, Snyder, and Loeb all quote from it at one point or another; you can just know that once upon a time the Joker beat Jason Todd, the second Robin, to death with a crowbar, but it might be worth seeing it for yourself.

Those two pages are all that Sunstone is, and Sunstone isn't bagged or behind counters.
In fairness, it should be, it's straight unapologetic bondage porn. Hell, Sex Criminals is at least bagged.

So was 9/11 the definitive line in Miller's career where everything before was good and everything after was complete garbage? Has he written anything good since?
He had a very clear mental break on 9/11 that he's never recovered from, but his work since then has been Claremont-level lovely, where it poisons the good work too because you look back and all you can see is the stuff that'd go malignant and take over everything already there, screaming "HI I'M A GIANT RED FLAG, WHY DIDN'T YOU SEE ME BEFORE, NOW YOU CAN'T UNSEE IT". Stuff like Selina Kyle being a prostitute in both Year One and DKR even though the plot wouldn't change one tiny bit if she wasn't, for example.

This reply in the Neogaf thread for that article is great.
Edit: Great in the thought that motion comic trailers and killing floppies would save the industry is hilarious, I mean.
Those are... really good ideas, though? Pretty drat solid.
I'm still reading through the thing myself; I have Opinions, surprising nobody, but I want to save it until the end.
