Also I wasn't too hot on the recoloring job, that pretty much killed my interest in re-buying a comic I'd already read before. It wasn't Killing Joke bad or anything, but it was, as with all modern recolorings, way browner and more muted.

That reminds me of when Peter Laird and some loving company I forget were bringing Mirage's original TMNT back in the early 2000s, and Laird was so desperate to make it happen that he personally tried to get all the giant pile of original contributors to TMNT that weren't Eastman to agree to give up all their royalties to everything they created in the TMNT universe for basically a pack of Juicy Fruits, and then when most of them told him to get hosed, he was like "Ok all that poo poo they wrote isn't canon anymore, TMNT IS FULLY BACK BABY!"

I wish they just get over it with Kitty too, she has had terrible chemistry with every male romance (aka Peter something-or-other) they put her with.

That's because the people writing her are all in love with her and can't bring themselves to write her having true chemistry with another man.

Batman Annual #14 (1990) is one of my favorite Batman stories ever, it's a great take on the origin of Two-Face, and Jeph Loeb lifted a lot of it for his use of the character in The Long Halloween. It's probably not easy to find, but it was reprinted along with some other Two-Face and Riddler material as a trade that was a tie-in to Batman Forever.

This reprint also had much better print quality overall, so it's probably the better buy. I dunno how Comixology works so maybe it's on there.

Speaking of Two-Face stories, Batman Black and White: Two of a Kind is a great Bruce Timm comic, but it features very little Batman.

It's an elseworlds, but another great story is The Batman of Arkham, where Bruce Wayne is a victorian-era psychiatrist and the administrator of Arkham asylum.

Going Sane is a pretty great story by JM Dematteis.

All those ideas except reserving miniseries for prestige creators are solid, at least from my consumer perspective. The price tag probably isn't realistic due to modern printing costs, but comic prices are definitely insane as it stands.

E: Ha, 1963-era Marvel comic prices, adjusted for inflation, are exactly 99 cents.

American Comics should adopt the Manga distribution system. Instead of every series getting its own monthly print release, there are monthly magazines each with 5-8 series in them.
Like, "Detective Comics" would be a monthly magazine, each issue would be 200 or more pages long, and contain new installments of Batman, Batwoman, Green Arrow, etc.

That'd be like 35 dollars an issue, if not more. It doesn't address the problem of how loving overpriced it all is.

Yeah, and they used to be printed on the shittiest possible paper and printed with really simple colors, and there wasn't a monopoly on printing, and there's probably unionizing involved somewhere. But as a consumer I'm still getting smacked in the jaw with modern prices that don't scale at all from what they were when I was a kid and certainly not with the prices of when comics were booming in the olden days.

When I was a wee Lurdiak my family would buy me magazine format B&W compilations of Marvel comics in French that were approximately 15 years behind current continuity. While there's an argument to be made for the importance of color and paper that won't loving get stained with fingerprints or smudge, I can only say that I would've read far fewer comics if those reprints hadn't been available and instead my parents had to purchase floppies, especially if they had been priced like modern comics are.
