It would be enough to pique Ernesto's curiosity because Chuck having a tape recorder, hell Chuck ordering batteries is out of left field for him and Ernesto has already shown he will go to Jimmy on stuff like that. Then Jimmy does something dumb to try and get the tape back / destroy it and gets busted on a B/E or whatever and Chuck gets what he wants.
