In 2017 people can make theyr computer do a back handspring and turn into a tablet and blast out epic pdfs and powerpoints. in 2017 people can connect to the internet wirelessly with the throughput of 10 t1 lines and use use an ipad as a thin client to render huge vids using a massive cloud render farm. hell, that's true - and it's simple for every nontechnical women and children. but in 2017? just as in 2003, i prefer to use the Desktop. I prefer the big montior, the desk, and mouse, and chair. Sure., this computer chair gave me a patch of big dangling 'Roids on my keister, that's alright - I can deal wiht that, but you know what else it gave me? Over 9000 frags and a comfortable life in IT. In 2017, I prefer to use the Desktop.

ground flooring this i wholeheartedly enjoy my laptop, but i kinda miss the days of buying a new card for my desktop at least everything is in a socket or otherwise removable, so i can crack it open and tinker if the need strikes my warranty is actually friendly to this, since the machine was build to actually be user serviceable with a dock, a few peripherals and a couple proper displays, it's pretty much the desktop experience i just wish thunderbolt (or whatever) to pcie was more of a thing

Mid Tier Desktop = Beast Mode power. Can do anything. Mega powerful. Render vids, 100+ fps in all games, plugs for crazy peripherals, pci slots for even more esoteric peripherals. Compile a billion LOC in 1 second. Laptop for same price: Junk trash that can't do anything and lags on a youtube vid. Hard pass. Mobile device for same price: Good for scrolling down a blank HTML page that lags on everything and can't use programs. No plugs at all. Doesn't do anything, basically a paperweight, you'd be better served with a literal paper newspaper.

i like laptops because i can computer on the front porch or in the backyard. but i also like desktops because of the big monitor, and having a mouse, and the full size keyboard with numpad and proper arrow keys. imo it is best to have one of each. thanks for reading my post.
