It's probably not going to destroy society, no. That doesn't mean millions won't die. poo poo will get more expensive though. We aren't paying the full price of a lot of stuff now because we get to basically treat the sky as a free disposal site. Everyone gets to externalize the true cost of their emissions. That won't last forever though. One way or another we're going to have to start paying the full price pretty soon. Hopefully through some form of carbon tax, but if not then when the bill comes due in terms of rising sea level making things more expensive for everyone.

Really, really bad poo poo that could have been prevented is going to happen. Hundreds of millions are going to die or be displaced. We are going to have to spend a lot of money that we otherwise wouldn't have had to to mitigate the worst effects. But global civilization is not going to collapse, no.
