The CIA played Kennedy and Eisenhower off of each other about Bay of Pigs by telling Kennedy that Eisenhower had approved it already (when he actually hadn't) in order to get the go-ahead, because they knew that neither Kennedy nor Eisenhower would have approved it if they had been up-front about it.

The Bilderberg group, consisting of the wealthiest and most powerful technocrats in the US and Europe, meet and discuss how to pull strings for eachother to ensure the continued power of the oligarchy over the masses. These people control tens of trillions of dollars and hold many high political offices in both US/EUR.

http://www.bilderbergmeetings.org/meeting_2017.html
http://www.bilderbergmeetings.org/participants2017.html

Some past participants include
Hillary Clinton
Henry Kissinger
Jeff Bezos
Eric Schmidt
Tim Geithner
Peter Sutherland (Goldman Sachs CEO)
David Cohen (past Director of CIA)

The meetings are conducted in secrecy, with cellphone blackout devices and high security. Some of their stated rules are that everything said has no record, and any politicians there are not restrained to the normal conventions of their office while being there. Meaning they can get down and dirty. Most of the mainstream media will not even acknowledge the existence of the group, because they are literally owned by participants of the group.

Back in the early 1990s there was a renewed flurry of interest in the JFK assassination, mostly thanks to the publicity surrounding Oliver Stone's film on the matter. This renewed interest lead to the passage of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection act in 1992. This lead to the creation of the Assassination Records Review Board, an agency tasked with overseeing the release of any remaining documents pertaining to the assassination. Despite how long ago all this happened it turns out there was still a lot of dirty laundry that nobody wanted aired, so there's been some resistance to releasing documents and a delay was put on making many of these files public. Among the things we've learned since the Records Collection Act was passed is the existence of Operation Northwoods, a plan to use false flag terrorist attacks on US soil to justify the invasion of Cuba. So yeah, there's some pretty spicy stuff in there.

The interesting part is that the last batch of documents was mandated to be released in 2017. Some of these files have already come out and researchers have been eagerly pouring through them for new information. Among the most recent revelations was the fact that, Earle Cabell, who was the mayor of Dallas in '63, had been a CIA asset since the 1950s. Obviously for people who are convinced that the CIA murdered Kennedy that's a big revelation (Cabell would have had ultimate authority over local security on the day of the assassination) but even absent any conspiracy theories it is an interesting piece of history, and along with stuff like Operation Northwoods it helps paint a more evocative picture of what US spycraft looked like in the early Cold War.

Here's where things get more interesting. Among the documents set to be released is the CIA's security file on Lee Harvey Oswald. Remember that prior to his employment at the Texas School Book Depository Lee Harvey Oswald had been a marine working on a radar station in Japan, where he handled low level classified information. Oswald subsequently defected to the Soviet Union and publicly declared his intention to share classified information with the Soviets (though it turned out everything he knew was considered useless by the KGB, who were suspicious that Oswald was likely a CIA agent). Oswald spent a few years in the USSR, married a Russian woman, but ultimately decided to return to the United States. Indeed, Oswald actually received a loan from the state department to help him resettle in America. Back in the US he was never charged with any crimes and while he did speak with the FBI there's no official record of him ever being debriefed by the CIA - something that presumably would have been done as a matter of course, given that he was a defector who had openly declared he intended to share classified secrets with the USSR.

After returning to the United States Oswald acted in a very suspicious fashion. He was involved with various pro and anti Castro groups in Miami, seemed to be intentionally manufacturing front groups in which he was the only member, and ultimately he may have taken a trip to Mexico City about six weeks before the assassination in which he met with Cuban and Soviet embassy officials, possibly including Valery Kostikov, a high level KGB official responsible for overseeing "executive actions" including assassinations and sabotage. On the other hand, there are no existing photographs of Oswald in Mexico City (despite the fact both the embassies he supposedly visited were under constant CIA surveillance) and there was some skepticism on the part of the FBI regarding whether an alleged phone call placed by Oswald was actually a recording of Oswald's voice. If this all seems confusing that's because it is - Oswald's activities in Mexico City are a subject of a lot of controversy, and some people suspect his entire trip was faked. On the other hand, if he did visit Mexico City and was a genuine lone nut, then it raises serious questions about why American security services weren't monitoring this man more closely.

All of which leads to the most recent revelation. The CIA Office of Security posses extensive files on Lee Harvey Oswald. These files weren't disclosed to the Assassination Records Review Board - instead their existence was discovered accidentally in 1997 by a staffer working for the Review Board, who found records of their existence in the files of two previous congressional committees (the House Select Committee on Assassinations and the Church Committee). The CIA claimed it had overlooked the existence of these records because they were housed in a different facility than most of the other documents. Either way, when the CIA acknowledged the existence of the files it turned out that one of the volumes - volume 5 of 7 - had gone missing.

The CIA claims that this may be a record keeping error and that volume 5 might not have existed, or that it did exist but was previously consolidated with volumes 4 or 6. However, records and hand written notes from the House Select Committee and Church Committee indicate that volume 5 existed back in the 70s and thus went missing at some point between '79 and the time that the existence of the files were rediscovered in 1997.

Whatever one believes about the assassination, these files would be of obvious interest. It's been a longstanding question why the CIA did not seem particularly interested in Oswald after he returned from the USSR. The best interpretation of evidence here might be that the agency overlooked the security threat Oswald posed out of sheer incompetence, in which case they might be covering up their own stupidity. Obviously plenty of people have a much more sinister take on the evidence (one former CIA employee, James B. Wilcott, testified to Congress that Oswald was an agency asset who had been on the CIA's payroll and who was sent to Russia to act as a mole, though like everything about this case it's hard to determine the reliability of these claims). Another interpretation might be that the CIA suspected Oswald was the agent of a foreign power but hid this information to prevent a world war.

However one interprets the disappearance of these files and the motives behind them it's remarkable to think crucial documents are still conveniently going missing decades later. Even the CIA has now officially admitted that something was covered up in 63, though obviously they try to put the most positive spin on this revelation as possible.

Just the one most people already suspect: all politicians (in this country, at least) are puppets of corporate interests, whether they know it or not. The vast majority of them know it and don't care because hey, it's a pretty sweet life. You get a certain degree of autonomy where you decide if you want an R or a D next to your name, and can advocate for your positions and pet issues, as long as they're "inside the lines" i.e. they don't seriously threaten or undermine the power structures of american capitalism.

POTUS is like the doctor manhattan of politicians, they're still a puppet but they occupy a high enough position that they can see the strings. The power of the office is real and vast, and you're supposed to use it to keep the status quo afloat and keep the money flowing to the top. How smoothly your time in office goes depends largely on how well you function as this important cog in the machine. If you try to be a hero you'll be contained by all the people around you saying "sorry you can't do this" or, failing that, get your brain ventilated like our ol' buddy Jack.

Trump is significant because although he is a puppet (of the Kremlin, of his own narcissism, or both) he's not one of our puppets. He's not supposed to be there. The last ten months have been all about managing and containing a guy who ended up in the Oval Office but doesn't wanna play ball. This is more or less fine by all of us since Trump is a massively dumb rear end in a top hat who wants to say and do dumb rear end in a top hat things so that millions of other dumb assholes will tell him how great he is for it.

But, y'know, it does bode poorly for any Bernie types who would ever, by some miracle, make it that far.
