Didn't Ashiok briefly succeed and making a nightmare god before another god squashed it?

Story beats that were completely ignored by wizards previously: Mentioning the B/W angel sister on Innistrad and then never referencing that again.

Story beat they will probably also ignore: The 3 missing gods on Amonkhet

I assumed the three missing gods would be three-color to complete a cycle in Hour of Devastation with Bolas (Grixis) and Planeswalker Samut (Naya).

I'm not sure why he keeps answering those questions. A few days ago someone was complaining they write too many stories where the female is the hero and the villain is a male recently. MaRo responded that Emrakul was female.

To be fair, MaRo said Nahiri and Emrakul, not just Emrakul. (Emrakul being human enough to have a gender identity at all is an awkward retcon, though.)

He can be both!

I wish they embraced that more, to be honest. It'd be a lot more interesting than what we actually get.

He's supposed to be both. He's both blue and red, after all.

Saw that fan-made Star Wars set from a while back and started tinkering with the idea of a set based on One Piece during the periods of down time. Thinking less about individual cards (don't know that I'd actually bother trying to do something as insane as that dude's Star Wars set) and more about mechanics that would:

1. Fit the setting
2. Play well with one another
3. Work outside of the set

Game design exercise and a time filler if nothing else. Haven't been on Traditional Games for a good bit (haven't been playing MtG much), so I can't remember if there's a created cards topic. If not, would anyone mind sparing a few words of thought in here?

One Piece is a bit of a weird choice for this sort of thing because the major characters are so powerful; Luffy, even in East Blue, shouldn't really be threatened by any number of 1/1 soldier tokens in flavor terms. Though MtG has never been super-consistent about the flavor of power/toughness anyway (e.g., an elephant is equal to 3 squirrels).

Man, there was a smug wizard that I liked. Teferi, too. Why were those two so (reasonably) popular compared to Jace? Was it just that story characters took such a smaller role on cards and that stopped us from being bombarded with them?

Story characters actually took a much larger role on cards during the Weatherlight Saga. It's just that Ertai wasn't one of the main characters.

There are people who hate Gerrard flavor text, though.

They'd have to explain why Spiritmonger is neither a Spirit nor a Monger.

More to the point, they don't use regeneration anymore.

I agree that Modern is in a good spot now, though I wonder what they discussed unbanning.

I think that's the point. They're meant to be game pieces, ones that care about really weird things and in a way that wouldn't work under the comp rules proper, but still game pieces.

Frazzled Editor is a funny joke, but this .jpg provides all the value. There's no incentive to actually play the card as it's a very uninteresting game piece.

The focus on good gameplay is important, obviously, but I would have liked to see a bit more self-parody, instead of just the general humor they use in normal flavor text anyway. I guess there's a bit of that with the factions essentially being parodies of the Ravnica guilds, but even then, the Izzet, Rakdos, Gruul, and Azorius are often portrayed with a comic tone anyway. Though to be fair, most of the cards haven't been revealed yet.

The leaves-the-battlefield ability should say "as" instead of "when." As written, you can Stifle the trigger, leaving you with multiple libraries and no instructions for handling them.
