I think Clive Lewis will be a bit of a dark horse since he seems to pitching himself to the left of RLB on a lot of stuff and isn't so tied up with a load of people who were just in charge of a failed election campaign. Hopefully that pushes RLB to distance herself a bit from being the continuity candidate and not just be beholden to Len and Unite. Also I can't be the only one looking forward to Jessflaps actually having to answer questions about policy am I? She has coasted for so long managing to avoid any scrutiny it's incredible.

I do wonder what the SNPs move is going to be to this - I might be mistaken but it doesn't seem like there's appetite for a wildcat referendum? I guess there's 4 and a half years for Boris to piss off Scotland enough.

Communist Thoughts posted:iirc the treasury rejected any stop in austerity during his campaign so he's already ditched it This is one of the reasons Cummings is tearing poo poo up in the civil service though, to ensure that the Treasury will go along with what they want to do. Boris is not stupid and knows that to hang onto these former red wall seats he will need to actually spend in those constituencies. I think it will be a lot easier for him to get through a softer brexit (though still pretty hard) to allow for more spending than the other way round, although right now borrowing is very cheap anyway so it's a good time to be promising a load of infrastructure spending.

The Telegraph is less like fox news and more like the right wing parts of the New York Times or Washington Post (inb4 "that's all of them") It's very "Tory party insider" and definitely right wing trash but it's the Mail, Express and Sun that are more in the fox news "IMMIGRANT MUSLAMICS ARE COMING TO STEAL YOUR HOUSES' vein
