Im also pretty sure trump wouldn't be president if the brexit had gone the other way, so I blame them for all America's problems too. One of the many many reasons that Macron's triumphant victory is so cool is that as a finance pro he's going to put the screws to britain's financial industry which will wound their country badly.

One of the rhetorical tricks that corbynistas think is clever is to claim he's popular and a winner because he won the leadership elections. They forget or willfully ignore that it isnt the Party Members who count, but the general public.

get that OUT of my face posted:i remember after the brexit vote happened, there was analysis that said that the Good Friday agreement could be in trouble because of it. has anything come of that? The Northern Ireland government had an election and was unable to form a governing coalition back in february or march. They got several deadline extensions but IIRC its now on hold with the snap general election. If they can't form a governing coalition then they will return to direct rule by westminster. No one knows what the implications of brexit will be for the irish border. It's entirely possible that NI will be under direct rule and also that hard borders with customs controls will be erected between NI and Ireland proper due to the brexit. If that's the case, there won't be much of the good friday agreement left in force.

The way I see it, hunting the fox is the most british thing there is. Many brits don't seem to realize that their magnificent rural country culture is their last remaining national treasure. It turns out that opinion polling on fox hunting is split about 80/20, which is almost exactly the same as the urban/rural split. Issues like fox hunting should be devolved to rural leaders to decide, it doesn't concern city people. It's the soul of britain. hakimashou has issued a correction as of 00:20 on May 17, 2017 |
