The guys whole thing was that he was this awkward weirdo who would bumble through life messing things up. I think to start with he accidentally revealed his home address and the place that he worked and 4chan trolled the poo poo out of him.

When he realised how much money it was making him he played up to it and constantly revealed where he was going and things began to snowball out of control.

The last thing I read about him was that he "called out" some gang near him that his thousands of sweaty followers on 4chan had "trolled" and people were predicting it was going to end horribly.

Honestly it was the slower pacing that was bugging me. He basically invented the hyperactive smash cut style of Youtube, the new show is kinda dry. It's got some great moments here and there like when he does his rants about the poltiical implication of whatever science he's on about, or any of the documentary field stuff, but I don't think Netflix has a team that can make a "night show" style program.

I can talk about him somewhat. If you were to tell me a year ago that Jordan Peterson would've been considered part of the alt-right crowd on Youtube, I wouldn't have believed you. He might not have been known worldwide, but in Canada he was certainly not a nobody. He was a frequent guest of many provincial television stations in Ontario, and a rather reliable one too. He had his own short-lived-but-unironically-good TV program which should be buried in his Youtube channel somewhere. He even had an hour on Canada's most prestigious intellectual radio program, and they don't just hand that poo poo out.

But, it wasn't enough. He wanted more. When I first noticed something about him seemed "different" than before, another person in the Canadian Politics thread brought up how there was rumours in academic circles of him getting "tired of getting no exposure, or grant money, or TED Talk invites, [aka, fairly normal academic poo poo that happens] and finally drank deep from the chalice of alt right poison."

I can crosspost this from the right-wing media thread and this from the Canadian politics thread about him going from being a legit professor of psychology into what he has since become.

I wrote those two posts before it became clear just how off the deep end he had gone. I haven't really looked at any of his stuff since the about-face he did with Bill C-16/Parl-42; haven't had the heart for it. I checked once and he had a video called "Is this a picture of Mohammed?" and the first few minutes of it sounded like he was losing his mind. (Especially when compared to the academic rigorousness of his older stuff.) I actually used to like the guy, and his earlier stuff had actually affected me in a positive way. It hurts to see him become what he has.

Just to clarify because there's enough rumours that become truths out there already: I hadn't heard any rumours about his satisifaction/dissatisfaction about his academic career, I was merely speculating as to his motives.

Certainly he makes enough money from this stuff, but on the other hand he's a tenured University of Toronto professor, one of the best paying universities in one of the best paying countries for academic tenure in the world.

Probably the only potential element of truth to those arguments is that some "soft" sciences have equal need of people skilled in statistics/mathematics but fewer people who actually have those skills, resulting in poor use of statistics (though this is also a problem in "hard" sciences). But that's completely unrelated to the validity of the fields themselves and is likely mostly a result of there being less money to be made in soft science research. If anything it's a sign that people need to take those fields more seriously.

Yea, for whatever reason people make the leap of "There is a significant amount of flawed research in Psychology, etc, ergo Psychology is not a valid field of research". It's a little like realizing Newtonian physics are flawed, and then concluding that physics isn't a valid field of study.

Reddit subforum.

TL;DR:

There's a circle of amger/revenge porn subforums with various specific topics. r/RevengePorn, r/PettyRevenge, r/MaliciousCompliance, r/prorevenge, r/JusticePorn, etc, etc. There's ever more specific ones dealing with road rage revenge, video game revenge, and so on. Some of these have been banned, like RevengePorn, for going too far or breaking reddit's seemingly only real rule: Don't go after real people (for too long, or at least to explicitly).

r/PussyPass and r/PussyPassDenied are two such subforums that cater specifically to revenge porn relating to women getting attacked ahem "PussyPass was founded as a place to highlight women getting advantage over men just by owning a vagina.".

So they both started out of the "mens rights" and red pill pool of misogynistic victim mentality hand wringing. Then when the alt-right started becoming an explicit thing, instead of just a loose collection of equally detestable groups on the internet, the red pills got mixed in with the Nazis and what was supposed to just a place for posting about "evil women getting shown up" turned into a literal Neo-Nazi subforum.

Turns out one of the mods who came to inherit the page decided that this was the right thing to do and announced the move by redoing the page's CSS to celebrate Hitler's Birthday. Explicitly. With Nazi banners and the Top banner reading "Happy Birthday Mien Furer" in German. And adding a "Fascist Goy Reading List" to further "red pill" these simple misogynists into full on Nazis.

And if you were asking just specifically about the term "Pussy Pass" it's like the "race card"but about women using their gender as an excuse to get away with "stuff".

ALso "pussy pass denied" is referring to women trying to use said pass but being "denied" aka getting attacked physically by a man, but it's definitely not sexist because the women instigated it

I've since sworn off reddit (the open Nazi Subs post election is what finally did it), and my friends keep saying stuff like that. "Just ignore the lovely subs and stick with the fun ones". And to me that's like saying "sure I hate the KKK, but the local chapter has a mean pancake breakfast".
