Congrats on playing on babby mode. The fact that I've never heard one of these idiots even mention qualitative research methods shows just how little they understand the field.

Which, granted, isn't exactly a high honor. Peter Hadfield (Potholer54) is fantastic, although his focus has turned mostly to climate change idiots than creation science idiots.

It really is amazing that someone who has condoned the treatment of someone who has received roughly 1 billion death threats online is having a hissy fit at being called a piece of poo poo.

Avenging_Mikon posted:I want you to understand something: you are a garbage person. Even if you're trolling, you are a garbage person. To even ironically defend Sargon, who laughed while Kristi described a rape scenario during their debate, and he, when asked what analytical framework would replace feminism, said "I don't know, I don't care." He is not interested in constructive dialogue. His is a misogynist and a racist (see the support from the EDL). I was going to reply to this earlier but there was a huge amount of shitposting at the time and just how wrong he is when saying this is a bit academic. When Kristi mentioned that you analyse the data using a feminist framework, she was most likely referring to a particular qualitative research method , where you analyse transcripts about a specific topic using a particular existing theory (framework) such as feminist theory or critical race theory. This is what she has done her research in in the past. The thing is, Sargon is so wrong in his response that given a short explanation his answers could have actually been correct. "I don't know" (because I haven't seen enough of the data to determine what framework should be applied to it). "I don't care" (because this topic can be better analysed with another type of qualitative research method or with quantitative methods). Basically, he is a Dunning-Kruger Golem, and has no business talking to actual researchers.

Fun fact, a recent court ruling in Australia deemed it OK to use in a public place because of it's prevalence here.

There were some violent games then, but surely a better study would be after this time period. It also admits that it is a smaller factor than both gender and socioeconomic categories, and it also splits "aggression" into three categories, of which the highest, "illegal activity" is the least affected by violent media. Also non-violent erotica appears to be worse than good old violence when determining risk factors for agression?

A sceptic conference hosted by the Milwaukee Mythicists (Mythinformation Conference ) has decided to host some of the worst possible people to attend as speakers. Armoured Skeptic and Shoeonhead are there (not entirely uncontroversial but neither of them are experts in areas that would normally warrant speaking at a conference). More controversially, Sargon is there as a speaker whose "channel is dedicated to rational arguments backed by evidence". Apparently they have never met him, nor heard him speak, nor realised he has crippling allergies to research and effort. And hot off the press, they've decided to also host Amos Yee, noted fan of child pornography.

I seem to recall that was a thing that happened at some point, either by Sargon's direct order or the misinterpretation of something else asinine he muttered into a microphone. I think they were fans, and yes, they chased and yelled at literal children and planted a kekistan flag at a playground.
