Kill All Normies by Angela Nagle is a pretty good history/overview of the alt-right's various sections from America's Leading Mindset Expert, gamergate, and the pepes. Doesn't go as far back as all of the reddit controversies of FPH tho. Granted it's probably the only academic overview of this whole thing, everything else is internet oral history.
