Magic Christmas Tree was great, I'm mad I didn't see it until now. I don't even remember any of the riffs, just an enjoyable crazy movie.

Jack Frost was a great use of a free ten bucks, the most I've laughed at a riff since the Mothra special. The edited scene joke was the highlight.

I'm watching the live riff on Amazon Prime and the birds haven't even shown up yet, but I'm pretty sure my brain is already melting down due to the sheer incompetence on display here. The first half with no birds is my favorite part. It's so utterly bizarre. That means you haven't even been Hanging With My Family yet.

It is absolutely wretched and I wish bad things to happen to anyone involved in it’s creation. The twenty seconds of clip art birds bombing the city is literally the only scene worth watching. Friend, maybe you should Imagine Peace.

The Journey: Absolution is the 10th David DeCoteau movie I've seen spanning over 20 years of his career, it is the closest thing to an actual movie I've seen from him.

SirPhoebos posted:I watched it too and it was...better than I was expecting? I've watched/listened to reviews of other DeCoteau movies and they sounded more unwatchable than Rollergator. This had a discernible-ish plot and while the characters weren't compelling it was clear which ones I should be rooting for. And being military sci-fi the vague porno tones are at least par for the course. It's much higher quality than the movies he's put out in the last 10 years. He's had quite a weird career where his movies get progressively lower rent as time goes on. The earliest movie I've seen of his is Prehysteria 3 which is terrible, but it's a movie. The Journey Absolution is also a movie, the production values are a bit lower but it's less stupid so I liked it a bit more. Totem was a few years later and has lower production values, more amateurish acting and just splices in a bunch of stock footage of Vikings to pad out the run time. After that he decided he could just do whatever and get paid for it so his movies look Room/Birdemic quality with more shirtless twinks and the same house in all of them.

It fits into the company of Rollergator, Feeders 1&2 and Suburban Sasquatch where it's so low-budget that it barely counts as a movie, but it tries to add digital effects so badly in ways that ascend it to an even more special kind of terrible. I've seen a lot of Polonia Brothers movies and usually regret texting a friend "You've gotta see this, it's Polonia Brothers level" because upon reflection it never is. Lycan Colony is that kind of bad and maybe bad in ways the Polonia Brothers never managed. An achievement.

Are the Rifftrax selections on Tubi and Amazon Prime the same? I would guess so but I realized today at work I've never checked. I always end up looking on Tubi because that's where I go when I'm in the mood for bad movies. (I'm also surprised how quickly Lycan Colony went up there.)

IUG posted:How is Fungicide not one of those movies where they try to be bad, and ruin any fun in the process? This one feels like a scam to do as little work as possible just to get money from people who "like B-Movies", and Rifftrax getting the rights to it is just a huge (?) payday for something they clearly didn't put effort into. Because it was made years before Rifftrax existed. While it is an attempt to make a "so bad it's good" movie and those are almost always no fun to watch, Fungicide is an exception. It was memorable when I found it on a B movie collection years ago and I laughed a lot watching the Rifftrax.
