Four-wide center-well combo setup is the most powerful technique in the game. Or at least it is in Tetris Friends, I'm not sure how the combo tables and garbage blocking balance out in this version.

my gf and I tried a puyo vs tetris game last night and it seems a lot harder for tetris to recover than puyo. we both suck but she's a little better than me.

We usually aim for 2 or 3 combos with our tiny non-puzzle brains. looking to move up to 4.

i'm playing online and i'm getting crushed. i'm certain my online opponents see that i suck and then toy with me. the only appropriate response to this sort of shame is to keep playing and puzzle harder.

If I get matched with a Japanese grand master they will crush me in 10 seconds and then spend the next round fast falling the center to the top and clearing it and still winning effortlessly

I've been saving the insane player's matches for later study. I think I'm picking up Puyo pretty quickly by getting 3* in adventure mode. I got my first 6 combo earlier today.

My strategy for Puyo is to just slam down a bunch randomly at the start of the match and then hope to God later when I clear something it somehow starts a chain. That is the extent of my mental capacity.

There's a story mode wth challenges and stuff but also you can play Tetris and Puyo, and both of them at the same time as you want

Btw where the hell did they get all these Tetris and Puyo characters. Is there deep puzzle action lore I was unaware of or are they new to this game.
