In Training posted:Btw where the hell did they get all these Tetris and Puyo characters. Is there deep puzzle action lore I was unaware of or are they new to this game. the Tetris characters are new but Puyo was originally spun off from an RPG series so there are tons of goofy characters - there are the originals from the old days, the new characters created by Sega when they bought the IP and then a second set of new characters from a reboot the most recent Puyo game for 3DS has a full-on RPG mode

Puyo games are a hard sell overseas because people don't want to pay retail prices for puzzle games anymore and they also have big localisation costs that other puzzle games don't have

Didn't the other anniversary games have issues with the traditional modes or something? Did they not fix any of that for Chronicle?

Zamujasa posted:There's always Puyo Quest, the horrible mobile F2P game that somehow got localized (in Canada only?) as "Cranky Food Friends" yeah there was a mentality in Sega US/EU for a long time that made them paranoid about acknowledging Puyo in any way because Puyo Fever didn't sell in loving 2003 or whatever the easiest, cheapest thing for them to do would be to put out emulated PP2 with online play like everyone has demanded for years
