a lot of americans, including many dem voters, believe the contemporary democratic party is "leftist", or even "socialist". most log cabin republicans are prolly just like your racist uncle, in that they uncritically accept that narrative and think clinton would've doubled their tax burden to fund free college tuition for foreign-born muslims or something. like as long as you accept that homosexuals are just as stupid as everyone else, it makes perfect sense for rich gay men to be log cabin republicans.
