cheapest thing I can think of is old thinkpads with penabled Wacom digitizers. they're fun but probably not good. if you have other dumb uses for a stallman computer then the very small amount of money for one might be worth it

Don't you just hate when you wind up in a store with people who are in a socioeconomic class that is pretty obviously about two levels lower than your own?

sure, i'm in no hurry, anyhow 80% of my use case is making avatars so it's not like i'm doing mad science over here

to be clear though i'm looking for an actual display tablet, not the other kind, ideally in a fairly small form factor since i already have too much poo poo on my desk

iPad Pro 9.7 and Apple Pencil, it's really really nice compared to any graphics tablet I've ever used

and I have a Calcomp DrawingSlate II that came with Fractal Design Painter that I used on an original PowerMac, so I've used a few

this setup sucks

i've been working with either 3x1p or 5x1p setups since ~2009 and i guess my workflows evolved around them, keep in mind that i tend to work with a bunch of windows open instead of a single one.

i have been meaning to stretch my legs a bit though and the more i look at the dell canvas or wacom 27qhd the more i want to try them out, even for not graphics applications i could see myself using this kind of setup (paired with a u3417w i think):

bit over my original budget, but since i was already looking at buying a travel setup and a graphics tablet, i could switch my home office setup to my travel setup and have something that suits my aesthetics for about a grand more than planned

good, bad or terrible idea?

http://www.displayspecifications.com/en/comparison/c7b71289f

p2417h
newer (2017)
cheaper (~200)
less better resolution (1920*1080)
dp in only, hdmi & vga in (no dvi)

p2415q
older (2015)
expensiver (~400)
more better resolution (3840x2160)
dp in and out, hdmi in (no vga or dvi in)

both should come with height tilt & pivot stands

the 2415q seems to have better colors and stuff but i don't really know about that stuff

:yeah:

you can get dell to price match any first party online retailers (no third party sellers on amazon, etc) and retain the warranty dell gives

if you buy them straight from amazon the warranty clock started ticking down when amazon took the inventory from dell, not from the purchase date

i grabbed two of these for $375 each, they own for the price

Shaggar
Apr 26, 2006
if you call dell they will reinstate the warranty from your amazon purchase date. they do this automatically w/ some retailers.

I've been using a Dell U2412M screen for the past 4-5 years now and its great, but I've been wanting to upgrade to 27-30", or maybe go dual u2412m?

Recommend me a 27" screen with 16:10

basically i want to be able to stop working and shitpost with the least amount of effort
