One of the most vicious bear attacks in human history is the sankebetsu brown bear incident, in which a bear went to town on a human settlement after waking up from hibernation. A shrine is erected in memorial of the event and the lives lost there, showing both the lifestyle of the settlers and the size of the terrible monster that attacked them.  Modern-day Japan now has cute bear signs decorating the road.

This photo is hanging up at the post office in the Old Faithful area at Yellowstone National Park, and was taken by the Old Faithful Postmaster. It's loving brutal and awesome. The bison had fallen into a hot spring (that's what it's injuries are from, the bear hadn't gotten him yet) and the bear is trying to take advantage of it's injury and have himself a nice meal. Bears don't gently caress with fully-grown bison, a bison ain't nothing to gently caress with, even for a bear. They usually go after the calves, or sickly/injured adults.

 Sloth bears are my favorite type of bear just because they are so fluffy and goofy looking. They look like they'd be nice to pet before they tore your face off with their giant claws.
