How are Li-Ming and Sylvanas doing in the current game? They're my favorite heroes to queue with but it's hard to tell if I'm doing the right thing. For Li I usually go full Arcane Orb for megadamage and with Sylvanas I take all her quiver talents + her slippery escapes like Will of the Forsaken and the one that gives you movement speed whenever you spam arrow.

Sylvanas is always going to be good for the "win more" factor letting you get max value out of a team fight by pushing forts hard. Always a solid pick and especially good on maps where the objective directly pushes down a lane.

Li-Ming is still really good *if* you're good at aiming her spells without being caught out of position. Although she's lost some value in the double-warrior meta, where her burst damage isn't as useful since you have high hp dudes blocking your shots all the time. Much like Valla, her win rate is lower than it should be because she's played by idiots and is heavily punished if she's caught where she shouldn't be. Also, you can cancel disintegrate early and it's often a good idea to do so!

Heroes like Varian just fundamentally poo poo all over all the QM matchmaking rules. Even if they only allowed Varian vs Varian mirrors you'd still have the same problem every time one of them specs Taunt and the other doesn't.

It kind of sucks because there isn't really a great solution for QM matchmaking rules just because QM is always going to be a crapshot. Lots of people play the mode though so ideally they should revert the rules changes for sonya/tassadar and maybe tyrande too. Varian is always going to be a problem so the only sensible solution there is if someone queues into QM as varian he just automatically gets slotted into matches where everyone else is a stealth hero

also instead of ever putting more than 1 stealth hero on a team it should just make them play in stealth heroes only matches

I don't know why they never went with a matchmaking system like, everybody gets 2 points. Conventional tanks get 2 tank points. Hybrid tank-assassins get 1 tank point and 1 assassin point, and so on for every hero. When you queue up, teams are all matched to be roughly equal in their distribution of points.

RIP 120k gold in one hour.

The new map is actually very good because nobody knows how to play it.

If you have a strong sustain hero or a good duo, then you can stop the enemy payload in the middle of minion pathing and soak/deny the enemy team forever while the rest of your team escorts your payload.

I've had multiple games with 3+ level leads and then it becomes impossible for the other team to win. You only need 1 or 2 people who know what they are doing and the rest of the team will usually instinctively go to the payloads in QM, so it doesn't even require a ton of coordination.

Edit: Also, the merc camps give a chunk of XP when captured. People tend to ignore them because the tokens aren't amazing. If you just do a delay+soak strat you will win 90% of the time in QM. Everyone else wants to die heroically throwing themselves at the payload.

All fend talents, the auto-attack activate skill at level 1, and ring of the leech.

Just poke with javelin and autos and strongly resist the urge to fend until you get them below half health. Then blind + fend combo, one last javelin, and run away.

Also: Activate the auto-attack buff every chance you get. It lasts 8 seconds and has a 20-second cooldown. It also causes attacks to jump to heroes, so you can use it for extra range (attack a minion in front of a hero) or to pick people from behind walls/gates (hit the wall or gate and it will jump to the hero.)

Remember how garbage infernal shrines was before people learned to bait the punisher? Now it's one of my favorite maps.

Shrines was garbage because it only took 30 minions to clear the Shrine, and they didn't scale health over time, and the Punisher had too much HP, and leaped to a random hero instead of the closest one. And Arcane Punisher lazers did super ridiculous amounts of damage.

Then they changed all that and Shrines suddenly wasn't garbage. Amazing how that works.

What you linked is basically her best overall build except for the level 13 talent. You should give Windrunner a try because it blows every other talent on that tier out of the water both offensively and defensively, and it synergises better with the rest of her kit than life drain.

I've been using the Icey Veins guides on the heroes and it's been working out pretty well for me. There might be other places that do it better idk. They have different builds depending on how you want your hero to work.

Depends on the character in a lot of cases. I know hotslogs gets mixed reviews but it shows winrate and pickrate by talent which is a decent guideline for "best builds". Once you learn the characters and maps better there are definitely situational talents to take (e.g. you may want a spell shield if the enemy team has 3 casters).

General rule of thumb though - just commit to a build in game. If you are buffing a characters Q ability, take the talents that synergize with the Q. It usually not as good to have a bunch of slightly ok talents rather than one really strong ability.

Thought as much.

The pitfalls I've been falling into so far have been with Tassadar and Rehgar are I build them as support but then find my teammates are not killing poo poo fast enough so I start going into their more DPS oriented talents.

Mind you I've only been playing AI games so far but my current interaction with players as a support character have been disparaging.

There are two builds I tend to go. If I'm against a team that doesn't have a lot of autoattacking, I'll go a Q build with pretty much every javelin based skill (and ring of the leech) and hang back throwing tons and tons of piercing, splitting, javelins of death. If they are heavy on autoattackers, take the skills to increase your blind damage and your fend skill. There is something to be said for the auto-attack skill but I am not good at using it properly.

The only ones that I think are must picks are
Level 7: Jumper - having an extra blink on demand is crucial for getting kills or not dying
Level 16: Locked and Loaded - master this one, all talents on this tier are flat damage increases but this one is the highest with the highest skill requirement.
Level 20: Total Recall - allows you to take damage during a team fight (diving in for a grenade for example) and then continue fighting after recalling

So did we lose out on loot boxes for leveling before 2.0? I'm 94 but only had 6 common and 9 epic boxes waiting for me.

I realize it doesn't really matter much now that there's no cap and leveling is a flat scale, but I just want to make sure I understand the new system. Every time a hero levels I'll get a box, common, rare or epic depending. If it's the hero's 10th level there'll be bonus Legendary with a character themed item.

That said, I watched Dyrus and the guy Dunktrain was coaching for a bit, and the coaching is pretty chaotic. My only comparison is what Day9 is doing on his channel, where he has a DOTA player giving him weekly lessons. Granted the lessons are designed to not just teach Day9, but everyone watching, so his coach has slides and clips prepared and after a few games, he analyzes the replays.

With this, they are pretty much just duo queuing into unranked and learning as they go, which is fine, but not quite the same.

Plate of the Whale is on par with or even better than Ring given certain enemy team compositions where you can get quest stacks easily. It plays to her strengths much better and therefore does great against the types of teams you want to be facing with Cassia (AA, multi-hitting AA, slows rather than stuns).

Ring is better in her worst situations (few or no auto attackers, lots of stuns/roots) but you shouldn't run into these outside of QM.

I guess you might also consider getting Ring if another person with blinds, like Artanis or Johanna, is on your team.

Icy-veins is a good starting point but if you can stand the ads I would use it in tangent with Hotslogs to experiment with different choices during a match. There are a lot of factors that can go into talent choices and your own playstyle can be a huge one. Using Hotslog winrates to find other viable talents within a tier and questioning your standard talent choices can be a useful exercise if your looking to improve your game.

The actual survivability boost from ring is much better than whale. Not to mention the fact that you get the full effect of the talent at level 4 and don't have to rely on other heroes attacking you for the quest.

Being able to restore 35-50% of your health in a fight (sometimes multiple times during fights if they are extended or other team members have blinds) provides you with much more effective HP and survivability than 10 HP per second and 200 health.
