More two lane maps is the last thing we need. Battlefield of Eternity is already the biggest shitshow in the game by a mile, Haunted Mines comes in an easy second, and Hanamura looks like it might take third. I'll take a hundred Blackhearts or Gardens over one Battlefield any day. Two lane maps just blow.

Except for Braxis which manages to be fun somehow. :iiam:

The topic of "I don't want random select to give me a random skin" has come up so often on reddit that when I saw it still does that after 2.0 I was honestly pretty surprised. I feel the same way, because there are some skins I just don't care for and got in bundles or whatever.

It's the build I play too, to be clear. I maybe just am not playing well or hoping for too much. It seems rare that I get enough cooldown reducing cannon shots to happen that I have two up for any length of time. I love the idea of being a turret commander, maybe I just need more practice.

Edit: Also on the topic of turrets, did they remove Gazlowe's ability to target his? I see robo-goblin has been reworked.

Edit 2: Nevermind they just put it on 1.

I just had a QM comp of Morales/Tass/Chen/TLV/Genji.

I understand QM will be QM, and the match itself was a pretty typical low-MMR clown party. We even loving won despite being up against a far more reasonable comp. So I can't really legitimately complain. But for some reason, this specific weird QM comp above all weird QM comps feels like the game yelling at me to get over my draft anxiety and at least play unranked sometimes. I mean I know it's the RNG of the matchmaker, not some sign from the heavens. But drat if it doesn't feel like it.

I appreciate that they gave Nova her own Bribe on a talent tier that doesn't really do much.
Most heroes that can take bribe only get it as a trade-off but Nova really doesn't lose a lot to pick it up.

I'd argue they should give her Explosive Round by default and allow players to toggle it with a seperate button or something. Also her special level 20 talent that lets her restealth is kind of hilarious if you look at Valeeras or even Samuros kit having that poo poo by default. Maybe she'll get a pass at some point.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks this. I've felt for a while now that making Explosive Round more easily accessible would be a good buff for Nova without running the dangers of turning her back into her old Gathering Power broken-style self. Whether that's on a talent tier, or a change to her level 1 kit, I don't know. But giving her some decent but not amazing wave clear would be a nice way of rounding her out I think.

edit: On the other hand I love that Lunara, Tyrande, Malfurion AND Illidan all have a skin where it's an alternate reality where Malfurion is the one who betrayed everyone, not Illidan.

Well what the heck!! Is there some actual backstroy about why his glaives had panda faces on them??

Also browsing through these skins, I can't believe how many of them have backstories attached to each other. Even Gazlowe and Sonya have a connection in one of their skins. Is there a list of these somewhere that shows which ones are all connected? There seems to be some super hero ones, and Gazlowe and Greymane both have circus ones for instance

In War3 the model was low-poly and tiny, so the panda faces were just an easily missable Samwise easter egg, I think. Now 15 years later or whatever on a high def recreation of that model they're very noticable and sort of odd. As far as I know there's no actual lore about them, and I don't believe the Warglaives of Azzinoth have them in WoW.

I also like some of the skin backstories and lore. A personal favorite of mine is the alternate Azeroth implied by Warmaster Chen and Shadowpaw Li Li where the forces of Lei Shen go head to head against Azshara and the night elves for the Well of Eternity.

It would have been a more interesting alt-history than Warlords of Draenor turned out to be.

Somewhere around gold in HL matchmaking there's a shift in mentality. Hero league itself is the new quickmatch; silence in draft, bullshit slam picks, nightmare team comps, specialists who just tower hump themselves to death all game, the works. Unranked draft is even worse in that matchmaking tier. In my experience in Gold/Silver HL it's pretty common to go tank or healerless, let alone unranked draft.

Maybe I'll just have to try to tank/heal my way up the MMR a bit. Considering I'm 2-6 right now, I imagine my hidden ranking is in the dumps.

I haven't played KT much in a while, but when I last did Nether Wind on 4 was the usual pick. That's the one that increases range on it.

I had the weirdest match last night. Towers of Doom with Medivh on my team. He told us right at the beginning that it was his first time ever on the hero. New player of the lowest win rate hero in the game sounds damning, right? So I pretty much resigned myself to a painful loss. But the guy was actually good, to the surprise of the rest of us. Good enough that he was better than a lot of people I've seen who have already sunk time into the character. Certainly better than I've ever been on Medivh. He wasn't flawless, but he certainly pulled his weight way way more than the rest of us had anticipated, and we won fairly easily with 20 HP or so left on our core. Certainly was a pleasant surprise.

On the topic of Cassia, I've been playing her lately and I really like her a lot. She feels like she has actual build diversity, though that's something Heroes seems to be getting better at overall. Based on the enemy teams, I can find effectiveness in speccing for javelin, fend, blind, or auto-attacking. The only talents that I rarely change are at four and ten, Plate of the Whale is just too goddamn useful most times. I actually build her for Fend least of all, though I know that's one of her most popular ones. It certainly can be good but at least when I'm QMing it often seems to situational to put all my power in that dive.

Finally, I have an annoying display bug on the new police hovercycles. One of the sets of flashing lights just floats about two feet in the air off the side of the right fin. I've repaired my game, updated my graphics drivers, hosed around with settings. Nothing seems to change it. I haven't seen anyone else commenting on it so I assume it's not common but drat it's annoying.

I wonder what ability would have helped here. 🤔

Here's my hot take: I would rather a player take a "sub-optimal" talent or heroic or whatever that they are reasonably confident they can get decent use out of than have them blindly conform to the meta and suck with it. Not specifically about Gul'dan, but my thoughts on the discussion from yesterday.
