If it's not guaranteed it feels like they weighted it pretty heavily then because I was expecting a lot of "pay 250, wind up with all commons again" but like I said, it's yet to happen for me.

Nova, Zeratul, and now Valeera have low or mediocre winrates in QM, so I'm not sure what people are complaining about, and they're either marginally better or even worse in draft.

This is what happens in Overwatch too to a sizable extent. Pointing out winrates and pick percentages doesn't really matter because "unfun" doesn't care about things like that, a bunch of people still want Symmetra nerfed because they can't deal with a bunnyhopping character with a microwave beam that locks onto them.

That's a really good question. Everyone saying "QM sucks" is really at odds with 90% of goon-ups being QM.

People probably do QM if I had to guess because it's the mode where you 100% guaranteed get to play the character you want. If you really want to play Ragnaros and they either get banned or the enemy team grabs him first then you're stuck.

As far as I can tell it's not really divided up by week, it's like on the second week that's when the challenge itself unlocks but as long as you play the requisite number of games before the entire event is over you can get all the stuff any time between now and then. Think of it like a questlog.

And usually I take the graviton bomb talent but there was no one on the team to pair it with so my friends suggested I do the buzz saw arms one. MMM MMM MMMMMMM. That was some GOOD poo poo

:discourse:

Probably one of the best Gazlowe games I've had in a while. Also earlier in the night I had a game where I just kept getting WRECKED by this Valeera on another character. Like to the point where I'm pretty sure she was just focusing me everytime for whatever reason and I couldn't do anything about it. This game though, their Valeera couldn't do poo poo to me and it felt great buzzsawing her stupid face off repeatedly. Also it was Infnernal Shrines so there was just a constant barrage of turrets going at their team and they couldn't even touch the points.

Also it makes me want to always do the buzzsaw hands ult even though the graviton bomb is suggested way more cause man is that poo poo fun

Both of Gazlowe's ults seem equally, if contextually, useful. Robo-Goblin is good for maps where you can get a lot of utility out of taking merc camps (and Gazlowe's already pretty good at this but Robo-Goblin makes him even better), objectives based around killing things (like Garden of Terror or Haunted Mines), or like you've noted if there just isn't a lot to combo it with on your own team.

Could just be personal bias but I'm finding Murky to be a pretty solid choice on Hanamura. You have enough waveclear to easily blow through a minion wave and start pressuring towers and forts, and along with that you've got a bribe talent at level 1 to take camps easier, so you have multiple ways to generate XP for your team. I just got out of a QM game where it was 8 assassins and 2 specialists so just insane deathmatch city all over the place, and even though fights kept going back and forth with a bunch of ours dying and a bunch of theirs dying, I still managed to keep us at an XP advantage for most of the game.

Spent the whole game feeling like I was on the back foot having to deal with a very aggro Kerrigan and her buddies Sylvanis and Varian but some quick bribery and a stolen camp turned things around along with a choice octograb. Whoever recommended Fishy Deal, that's a good call, I'm liking it more than I thought I would.

So in Overwatch they eventually implemented a system where the defenders respawn times increased past a certain point, generally when pushed to the final checkpoint of a 2CP map or the last leg of a payload map, specifically to avoid players employing a strategy based around hurling wave after wave of their own bodies at the payload to grind the attack down to a complete stall unless the attacking team could essentially win the equivalent of a back-to-back teamfight. What I'm saying is that the brawl could probably benefit from something like that because so far every game I've played has really come down to a never-ending series of trades about three feet from the capture point.

Here's a question that might be dumb but I've been practicing Muradin since I got the Marauder skin for him and when do you take Block over the other talents? Not just with him I guess but with any hero who has Block or an equivalent, at what point do you decide to take Block over, say, his hammer quest or Third Wind or something? Is it just "the other team has 2+ really strong autoattackers?" Is Block considered a good pick even in those cases over other talents?

The real, actual problem with Varian is that he highlights how a game that's designed around bans and drafts fares poorly balance-wise when you just throw everyone into a game blind. Much like the whole argument around stealth characters, the problem isn't really the characters themselves, it's that quickmatch lacks any of the checks and balances of any given draft mode.

Probably the most snowbally hero in HotS I can think of is Li-Ming maybe, who gets free cooldown resets on every takedown. Generally this doesn't really start to take off in my experience until level 10 when you get disintegrate which allows you to reliably secure kills against stragglers, and you can talent to get health back on takedowns, to amplify your damage, you can even give your teleport the ability to damage heroes nearby.

Butcher is pretty feast or famine depending on how well you're able to farm stacks but yeah, I can see him being a big snowball for teams that can't punish him early and often.
