Ukraine is not a part of the EU, while the Baltic states & Poland are. The Poles can take care of themselves, but a proper German military can act as an effective deterrent in the Baltics.

We’re talking about moods and appearances. Then again, that’s political reality, especially these days. Trump and May look a bit smaller, so they must be. And Europe is up — a sentence anyone who has followed the Continent for years would be shocked to commit to ink or pixels.

The US is still a yuge polluter even if other countries go with the Paris accord. I wonder if this could end up hurting the US in long run, if Trump shifts American focus from renewables to good ol' oil/gas.
