Sorites posted:Also, for what it's worth the purple poo gas doesn't do anything; only the ball itself, and only with a direct hit. So maybe the gas isn't so bad on its own? This is true. Might have been better to make the poo gas green or yellow though.

Warmal posted:The truth is that this is the Pokemon Island from the anime. The one with all the robotic Pokemon. It's meant to be an adventure theme park where you can see Pokemon up close a la safari like. But something went wrong. The tunnel is the remnants of of the control area the workers had. The only one left here is Professor Oak. Is he a survivor? Or is he the cau- Weren't the robot pokemon absolutely giant? Or am I thinking of a different episode?

Warmal posted:They were. I was hoping no one would notice that inconsistency. No reason to assume there is only one park. Some people might want a more realistic experience than godzilla pokemon for some reason. It certainly explains the rail tracks everywhere. The question becomes why Oak is making Todd do this. To get a good laugh? To give Todd some training? To falsify data for his research papers?

Professor Oak grows more and more suspicious. Hitting Mew with pester balls feels like a new low.

Your wild conspiracy theory is pretty good, but I think the fake pokemon might be a way of attracting Mew to begin with. Generally, Mew is portrayed as being very playful and liking toys. It shows interest in the windmills in the first movie and plays around with its light ball, it also has a stash of toys in the Lucario movie. Maybe the fake pokemon are supposed to be kind of like playmates or toys. Anyway, the pokemon being fake explains why they follow the Pokedex nonsense explanations of evolution. Both games and anime make it pretty clear that any Pokedex entry about multiple pokemon becoming one through evolution is just not true. But who wrote that Pokedex and would want to perpetuate its lies? Professor Samuel Oak.
