get that OUT of my face posted:what does "lanyard" mean as an insult, and when did that start being something you call people? It's either from Chapo or Veep or The Thick of It. It's a slur pointed at political staffers who use frequently have their access passes around their necks on lanyards as some sort of offbrand display of influence and power. They're incapable of having a conversation without using the word optics, or coyly referring to mysterious contacts or internal data to smugly allude to or back up a point
