Musk ducks are awesome

They loaf around in the water half submerged most of the time, the males have a hilarious mating display where they flick water out backwards with their legs and make a piercing cry
They're really slick and dive like seals

That reminds me, one bird I've heard about that I thought was cool is the cuckoo duck.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Mb0GOITRUU

Everyone knows about the infamous cuckoo and their habit of laying eggs in other bird's nests, where the cuckoo hatchling then gets rid of all the other eggs. The cuckoo duck does something similar, laying an egg in another bird's nest. However unlike with the cuckoo, the original eggs aren't disturbed. The host bird incubates the duck egg but that's it. When the cuckoo duck hatches it only spends a few hours in the nest before leaving, fully independent despite being so young.

What a brave little bird.

Birds are pretty great but I have a soft spot for small, round birds. Borbs, if you will.

Chickadees are awesome. I had one land on my toe once while I was out on the deck watching them.

Blue Jays are also great to watch.

A PI bird thread regular bought it and then an admin changed it to a slightly bigger version. It's from a set of budgie stickers on Facebook, and it's for when you're stoked. That's pretty much it.

Did you know: Cedar Waxwings have evolved enlarged livers to deal with all the fermented berries they eat! That's right! These birds would die of alcohol poisoning if they had regular sized livers.

No pictures, but I was walking by a small tree today, and aside from the usual sparrow chirping, I heard a call I associate with American robins. Well, wouldn't you know it, one was right there, closest I've ever been to one. I said "hi", it turned its back on me in disgust. Such is life.

White-necked puffbird

Ferruginous pygmy owl

Hooded Warbler

Currasow

Northern potoo

Yucatan jay

Grey catbird mad at orioles

Black vulture

Actually, that was just in January and February this year. I have a ton more but I should spread it out.

That's actually Venus! I took this in January when it was at its super brightest, but it's bokehed the gently caress out because the focal length of my lens is really short.
