As a kid in the country I had "pet" ducks along with chickens and geese. They were co-op mallards that very quickly grew up and flew away. They wanted nothing to do with me, but it was super cool that the next 2 years they came back and one had a wild girlfriend who would let me come within 5 feet to throw them grain. After that I never saw them again, but it was cool af as a kid to see "my" ducks come back every year to this random rear end farm to try and nest. Hopefully they found a better place instead of being eaten by a coyote.
