Sorry I didn't see this earlier Brunom! Hope it's an interesting ride. Also,Mikl posted:I wish to go on record and state that the Linebarrels of Iron anime is terrible. Like, absolutely, completely, 100% bad. I only know the manga, so it took me a bit to figure out that Kouichi is supposed to be the same guy. Seeing him cheerleading justice is really weird when the manga introduces him as a terrible person, only to steadily reveal the crazy number of issues going on both around him and in his head as the story continues. He wasn't really all that memorable, but his flaws made him stand out a bit from the usual SRW types. But sure, let's throw all that out the window so we can kick off with an incredibly early plot revelation, at the expense of all his characterization. No way that's gonna end poorly .

Brunom1 posted:Oh, but to be fair, L Cagalli has at least so far shown herself to be a better leader that daddy-o: she got Orb to join in on the UN's bid to fight the Darius and whatnot and actively told Athrun to get out there and help protect the world (...with Durandal, but, hey). In fairness, Durandal isn't really evil, and he *is* fighting to make the world a better place...he just has a very bad tendency to order assassinations for dumb reasons, presumably because he got hit by the "Kira is always right about everything" stick. In the hands of a better writer, he would have made an interesting argument for security over freedom.

Alacron posted:Between Kenji being obsessed with titties, Kouichi walking in on Emi, all of the butt jokes in Godannar, and the sheer volume of skintight pilot suits for the girls in various series some of which even have boob windows... Fun fact: Kouichi walking in on Emi is a *plot point* in the original story, because it was done after the two of them had met at school when she conveniently transferred to his school, but before he learned that she was working with Juda, so it's actually his first clue that she's more than she seems. It's only some time after that that he learns about her relation to Linebarrel and her role in turning him into a Factor (by killing him), and he's downright furious about everything she'd been keeping from him, which helps spark her own character development in turn. Alas, that obviously isn't happening here, so everyone just comes off looking stupid.
