eonwe posted:I had to stop playing because it was so ungodly laggy all the time The topic was enough of a concern that it got developers posting in the news if you care to read: https://treeofsavior.com/page/news/view.php?n=438 https://treeofsavior.com/page/news/view.php?n=644 https://treeofsavior.com/page/news/view.php?n=667 https://treeofsavior.com/page/news/view.php?n=785 Two things to take from this are that more stuff on screen doesn't work your CPU as hard, and that quest netcode was redesigned to not hammer the servers as hard. Also, you'll notice in game that there aren't as many moments when your client will stutter. If it detects a lot of calls it will attempt to fade them in, rather than stop itself and desync you with 0 fps while you wait for everything to process. There's a check box in the Settings menu for "Optimization" which is pretty opaque in description but is related to offloading more of the game's processes on multiple CPU threads. Definitely restart your client after you change it. Sidesaddle Cavalry fucked around with this message at 18:27 on May 15, 2017 |

SweetBro posted:So basically they rebalanced the game to not be a grindy snoozefest? What about the gameplay, was there any improvement? clone on the phone posted:Yeah I never tried this at launch because it sounded like a disaster. Game good now? I mean I can't answer these unless you're more specific, but if you were concerned about levels 1-50 being nothing but questing or grinding monster kills, experience from them was nearly doubled and there are multiple events going on right now that give experience items that help. Also the game favors Swordsmen more than Clerics now if you were concerned with being effective, and Swordsmen can at least quickly sprint around and do that sort of Ys-style gameplay that a few goons enjoy. Archers don't move as fast but can shoot while moving, make it easy to pop groups of monsters in a short amount of time and get a couple of branching classes that emphasize the shoot-while-moving part or the popping part. I don't have words about Wizards but Silento might have some? Magic damage is definitely back in a big way, I know for sure. You'll most certainly see something you don't understand in the game, but I think server congestion doesn't hurt as much now? I mean that's another reason there's a new thread, you can be more specific with what turned you away https://treeofsavior.com/page/news/view.php?n=984 New post-patch words from the devs. They look to be additional plans for the rest of the year in terms of QoL. Between moving house and Fire Emblem Echoes I'm really about the end of this event and hope it returns in at least a limited format again. Having too many alts hurts

FalloutGod posted:So I know instances exist that you can que up for but are there dungeons like they had in Ragnarok Online where its just a free for all of people in groups fighting stuff? Yes actually! They're the Hunting Grounds or HGs, the entrances of which look like big blue balls. They're pretty decent for experience in a party--or if you want to solo, they also offer nice standard equipment from purple cubes that drop with more kills.

Stronger weapons will help with your time to kill. This will make things like grinding at Alemeth in your early 200s more comfortable. Monster HP will start scaling hard as you get closer to 280, and actually knock big chunks off of your HP if you don't meet a minimum threshold of def/mdef.

I'll lay it plain for the record here. imcgames, instead of doing the sensible thing and devaluing an excessive item drop rate problem by giving less fortunate players lots of items, has decided to go all blood and thunder and suspend accounts that were known to have gained lots of items over the past couple of days. This is ostensibly to inspect the accounts and try to reduce gains to 1 item of each type. There was some scary rhetoric about also taking down specific accounts that could be judged as maliciously exploiting the issue, for much longer than the time it would take to inspect/edit the accounts. This is a bad idea in a low population game with only older accounts really being active and playing during the time in question. My Earth Tower static is down 2 players simply because they heard about the drop rates and tried them out, not to mention lots of members of bigger, older guilds. The catchphrase from players here is that they are being punished for playing the game normally. To top it all off, the generous compensation given for this unscheduled server downtime and difficult recovery only really benefits players still leveling their characters/alts. The actions taken don't seem very friendly to long-time regulars. This is still a developing news story, as this inspection period will likely continue as the new week goes on, since imc wants to micromanage literally everything about it. It's a bit unsettling to see them being so petty about their own mistake. Sidesaddle Cavalry fucked around with this message at 09:07 on Jun 4, 2017 |

https://treeofsavior.com/page/news/view.php?n=1006 There's some extra compensation at the end of the road for players blocked right now, but band-aids are band-aids and they certainly don't help players who are affected because they play with the blocked players. There are theories being thrown around that the reluctance to hand out actual desired items is likely linked to imc's motivation to sell Letitia's Secret Cubes. The aftershocks just keep on coming. "It's a feature/event, not a bug!" would be a developer statement that would have done more good than what's going on right now.

If you play more during primetime and like parties, go Falconer. Support classes have it nice and easy with gear requirements and both of your choices under Falconer work great for farming.

CAPTAIN CAPSLOCK posted:Falconer is expensive as you need to invest into the circling attribute to really maximize the class. It totals 25m to max out. Also it's more of a support archer than dps. ok I did not know maxing that attribute cost that much. I did know that it's a really powerful attribute that makes doing 1F/6F/11F/16F/etc. of Earth Tower very comfortable for other party members

You have a couple of choices going into the early mid game as a swordie2. If you feel like you're not popping enough monsters fast enough, give Highlander a try, and if you like Highlander, keep putting more circles into that. It's a great way to experience that part of the game if you haven't yet. The other option that can be enjoyable takes a little more investment, and that is to go Hoplite. Like Highlander, it also has fun attacks for most situations and sets you up to take either the Go Fast Class Cataphract or, much later on, Dragoon/Lancer. Lastly, after you've tried one of those branches, tack on that last Circle 3 of Swordsman, because a long long Pain Barrier buff means less knockdown frustration which equals more fun too!
