I just finished a re-watch of The Return and I'm doing a new set of the original run and FWWM etc now, I am definitely craving more of the world - if any, which of the Twin Peaks books are actually worth reading?

Unfortunately, it’s like 10 minutes of each episode the rest is mostly nonsensical crap as the writers tried to mimic Lynch without any of his magic. there's a lot to love about the second half of season 2, just that absolutely none of it involves james or evelyn

Jerusalem posted:I would never recommend skipping it, and I'm glad I watched it all, but man you can REALLY feel the absence of Lynch. i think the dip being felt is really an absence of both Frost and Lynch, Twin Peaks was able to survive without David and be great (away most of s1 filming Wild at Heart), but as soon as both of them were gone in s2 and it was just Harley Peyton and Robert Engels running it... boy they really leaned into all the wrong things to try and move past the reveal. the way Frost tells it in "Conversations with Mark Frost" is that he wasn't especially involved in about 5~ season 2 scripts and basically just provided notes over the phone while he was working on Storyville. Engels did come back to work on FWWM with Lynch and ended up working on On the Air with he and Frost, so read into that what you will about Harley Peyton's contributions during the dark times
