Woo good for him! If he needs legal help in getting ID change etc. to help make the change official, the Whitman-Walker clinic has resources in place to help him do that (and obvi by phone/internet if he isn't nearby ) |

thanks friendos! while i know and have known a lot of trans people, this one came as a genuine surprise (though not a bad one!) one sad fact i've learned getting older is that sometimes being a parent changes people into less nice versions of themselves - people i always thought of as pretty cool or decent parents can flip out about their kids, and frustratingly that isn't always coming from a position of intolerance, sometimes they just can't "let go" of their vision for their child and let them do their own thing.

I went through the same thing a couple years ago. Same transition, he even a had kid before then and she's still young so only thing you could do as a friend is be supportive of all that since the kid's probably going through hell too. He asked to be taught how to box because "it's proper guy stuff" and I obliged.
