Takes No Damage posted:Honest question: what would you say differentiates Hard Rock from plain ol' Rock? Just rock that rocks harder but isn't fast enough to be metal? rock is a general term that covers an extremely wide range of things, whereas hard rock is fairly specific.

I don't really understand what the confusion is. Rock music is almost everything featuring a guitar from the 1950s onwards, whereas hard rock is a specific style of rock. like your led zeppelins or your acdcs or whatever.
