On the topic of a shared Stephen King universe, I'm pretty sure that's what Hulu's Castle Rock show is supposed to be. The teaser explicitly mentions characters like Cujo, Annie Wilkes, and Alan Pangborn. Nobody knows exactly what it's supposed to be about, but Hulu is pitching it as their Stranger Things.

Man if they do like a full season of Needful Things as the penultimate season and then an adaptation of The Stand (like take and expand on the town's story from Ogunquit but excise Frannie and her family) to end the run, it would be so loving good.

They can adapt Night Surf since that's a short story that takes place within the same universe as the Stand.

Not ... exactly? Also Night Surf falls into the same trap as most of apocalyptic fiction of taking place after society has already collapsed and gone. From the humanist view of what goes as each layer of civilization is peeled away, straight towards prepper porn.

I thought both of them used A6 or Hong Kong flu or something to refer to the sickness?

I believe "Captain Trips" is the name used by both stories.

Eh. Not to go into a tangent, but the tone for the movie was super off in a lot of places. I really didn't need to see Rorschach doing Capoeria like Eddy Gordo.

I feel like that's less a 'tone was off' than people who think that way really didn't think through all the implications of the depictions in the comics.
