The UN commissions small vessels to begin transporting important documents and VIPs between worlds.

We enter a defensive pact with the Kitsu.

Human shock troops are recruited for the inevitable war.

The Turexmians notice this and declare us their mortal enemy.

Humans seem more eager to go to the stars now.

Billions on Earth hold parties to watch a comet blaze through space. While in past eras a comet was interpreted as a bad omen, today it is seen as a thing of beauty, a reminder of the great cosmos they inhabit.

Dr. Batista begins work on how to improve building times.

President Muwanga wins a third term.

Dr. de la Cruz is told that his team needs to work on better military technology. He chooses a system that has civilian applications as well.

Dr. Feher something something volcanoes.

The surface of Venus is now known to house a starship graveyard. Some in the science community on earth joke that they can hear Dr. Dietrich going on one of his paranoid rants from light-years away. (Venus is now considered a 5 mineral mining world.)

Dr. Dietrich sees islands floating over the surface of Danid IV, suspended in midair. While surveying the star of the system, though, what he sees amazes him. The star itself seems to be the home to plasma-based life-forms.

Gaia's Landing completes construction of its own stardock, the first orbiting another world.

Dr. de la Cruz continues his military research.

Military ships are moved to the Turexmian border.

The Trinikans offer a research agreement, and it is accepted.

On 2224.03.29, the General Assembly sends a declaration of war to the Turexmians.

"Whereas the Turexmian Trading Consortium has committed crimes against the economy and the people of the United Nations of Earth: Therefore it be Resolved by the General Assembly that the state of war between the United Nations and the Turexmian Trading Consortium is hereby formally declared."

WAR BEGINS...

The UN-Turexmian War: Part 1

Our fleets meet in the Ujqiohr system. We believe that their entire military force is concentrated in the one fleet.
They have ships that are larger than our corvettes, but we outnumber them in power.

They seem to rely on missile technology to attack, which gives them slight advantages at distance.

While the war happens, the Parids (!) offer a non-agression pact to us. We agree quickly.

Research into more effective weaponry is ordered.

Despite heavy losses, the 1st Fleet drives off the 1st Hunting Party. Two of their destroyers flee the system.

Information from the debris from the battle is sent to scientific and engineering communities on Earth.

More Anacondas are ordered built.

An article in one of Earth's greater newspapers describes the UN's ambitions as "something of a Galactic Manifest Destiny."

Orbital bombardment of Kbogas, one of the Ujqiohr planets, begins. Targets are specifically set as military sites, the goal to minimize civilian casualties.

Shock troops are dispatched to the surface of Kbogas...

and in a short time it is considered successfully controlled by the UN.

His work on improved weaponry completed, Dr. Batista moves to design larger ships, like the ones the Turexmians have.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY
We have completed the Expansion tradition branch, and as such, we get to choose our first Ascension Perk. Here are the five we have available to us:

  • Interstellar Dominion: +25% Border Range
  • Technological Ascendancy: +10% Research Speed
  • One Vision: +30% Governing Ethics Attraction, +10% Unity Output
  • Mastery of Nature: We gain the ability to clear most tile blockers, and clearing tile blockers becomes free (that is, we don't need to pay Minerals and Energy to clear them)
  • Imperial Prerogative: +5 Core Sector Systems

Through various research projects from the scientific community, Humanity comes to claim a mastery over xenoplanetary terrain. Almost immediately, Gaia's Landing and Terra Nova begin to increase their habitable area.

More research is put in place to assist the war effort.

The Buzzards lay dormant, building their fleet up.

Terra Nova begins work on a stardock.

The invasion of Mbat begins.

The land forces on Mbat are no match for General Rahimi's troopers, and the planet soon falls under UN occupation.

Military research continues.

Dr. Dietrich, upon studying an unusually bright sun, concludes that it can be used to increase our energy income dramatically.

The Fleet moves to begin attacking the Buzzard homeworld.

News arrives from the Trinikan Partnership -- due to good relations with the UN and the Kitsu, they have embraced the ideals of one of their xenophilic factions.

Turexm's spaceport defenses are too much for the Fleet, and Admiral Lewinson orders a retreat. Out of 22 Anacondas, only 5 survive.

Dr. Feher dies in an accident at home, aged 74.

Her replacement is Mi Zheng, considered an expert in military doctrine.

Due to the defeat at Turexm, and fearing an invasion of UN space, President Muwanga decides to send a message to the Turexmian Board of Supervisors offering a ceasefire. It is accepted. All military ships leave Turexmian space. Naturally, some people on Earth are angered by this news. A fist fight between planetary councilmembers on Terra Nova occurs.

The fleet's Anacondas undergo refits.

First contact with another empire occurs. The Holy Hahdiinspaan Covenant begins communication with Earth after learning our language and communication frequencies by eavesdropping on conversations between the Kitsu, which they border, and the UN.

The Kitsu are not on good terms with the Hahdiinspaan.

His wartime research finished, Dr. Mi begins work on improving government procedures to adapt to a multi-planetary nation.

A group of individuals state they are brave enough to colonize Dantonhatden Ia, which they give the name "Spider World."

The Hahdiinspaan declare their contempt for us, mostly because of our friendly relations with the Kitsu.

Dr. Batista sends a message to the General Assembly. Since he has finished his work on spaceports large enough to hold and build destroyers, he reaches out for guidance on what to spend research grants on.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY
For Engineering research, the choices are:

  • Advanced Spaceport - +2000 Mineral cap, unlocks Spaceport Lv. 4 and Destroyer Assembly Yards
  • Deep Space Stations - Unlocks Defense Stations.
  • Autocannons - Unlocks the Autocannon ship component.
  • Afterburners - Unlocks the Afterburners ship component. Since this technology was recovered from enemy debris, it remains as a valid option until it's researched.
  • Ceramo-Metal Materials - Unlocks level 2 ship armor. Since this technology was recovered from enemy debris, it remains as a valid option until it's researched.
  • Fusion Missiles - Unlocks the Fusion Missiles (missiles lv. 2) ship weapon. Since this technology was recovered from enemy debris, it remains as a valid option until it's researched.

A chance to help design and name the G-200 destroyer class will come soon.

UN Dept. of Foreign Relations - Intelligence Report
Assembly of Kitsu Planets

The Kitsu are a vulpine race that originally hail from the planet Malperdy in the Malperion system. They stand at an average height around 4 feet 8 inches, and as such, Human visitors to Kitsu buildings often find themselves bending over and crouching to fit. (The Kitsu term for human literally translates to "tall ones.")

Kitsu society is based around the "den," a group of familes that is comparable to a tribe or clan in Human terms. Each den selects an executive, which acts as both the clan's leader and representative to the Assembly, the governing body. The First Executive is the equivalent to the Prime Minister in a parliamentary system, and as such is elected from the membership of the Assembly. There are currently around 350 dens, and with expansion to other planets, the number is increasing as established dens split off new planetary branches.

The Kitsu society has a belief that everything in the universe asks questions about themselves, and it it the Kitsu's duty to answer. As such, the Kitsu scientific community is held in high regard, and it is considered a great honor for a scientist to be accepted to the General Scientific Academy.

As a side note, Human culture and cuisine have been very popular in Kitsu society, although the species is lactose intolerant.

The General Assembly, concerned about the state of the Fleet, request that Dr. Batista continue work on spaceports to defend the UN's planets and produce destroyers.

Dr. Dietrich finds evidence of ancient alien tampering on Sninyspol Ia.

The Blessed Parid Alliance, surprising the Department of Foreign Relations, requests a 30-year active sensor link for some minerals. After picking their jaws up off the floor, they accept.

Admiral Lewinson decides to retire from the Fleet and enter politics. She is elected as the new President. Her traits give us +5% happiness and +1 monthly Influence.

She appoints former UNS Rickenbacker captain Agustina Ruiz as her successor to the Admiralty. Admiral Ruiz is said to be an expert at keeping ships spaceworthy on a budget.

The Mexico City-class destroyers recieve their preliminary design. Construction will begin soon.

Dr. De La Cruz dies from heart failure during research.

Dr. Zhivenkov moves from the Litvyak to Earth to head up the Physics department.

Replacing Dr. Zhivenkov is Dr. Feiyan Cao, known for her keen mental agility and ability to survey faster than the average scientist.

Once again, the General Assembly meets to decide a new legislative plan for the coming months.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY
Well, sorry for the short update, but it's time for another major decision from you guys. Since we have completed Expansion last time, we get to pick a new tradition group. The available ones are:

  • Domination: War Demand cost to subjugate other empires is reduced by 25%, and a +20 opinion bonus is applied when diplomatically subjugating other empires. When all Traditions here are adopted, all research that is not shared between us and our subjects are given a 30% research speed bonus for both parties.
  • Prosperity: Mining station build cost is given a 33% discount. When all traditions here are adopted, Terraforming cost is reduced by 33%.
  • Harmony: All the pops in our empire get a 10% Happiness boost. When all traditions here are adopted, Consumer Goods become 15% cheaper.
  • Supremacy: Border Range increases by 20%. When all traditions here are adopted, the fire rate of our military ships will increase by 15%.
  • Diplomacy: Diplomatic influence costs are reduced by half while trust growth increases by 33%. When all traditions here are adopted, the trust cap will increase by 50.
  • Discovery: Research stations will become 33% cheaper. When all traditions here are adopted, research speed will get a 10% speed boost.

Here are the faction recommendations:
The True Democracy Group will not get a happiness boost from choosing any branch (since all their issues are satisfied, they're giving us a +1.8 monthly influence boost), but they think Harmony is the best way to go for now.

The Xeno Aid Forum, which is at only 53% happiness right now (thus, not giving us an Influence bonus), will get a happiness boost if the Diplomacy branch is chosen.

Or you could go Independent and choose one of the 4 other branches.

The General Assembly begins work on a package of economic legislation.

Building begins on Terra Nova and Gaia's Landing.

After the research agreement with the Kitsu expires, it is re-upped for another 30 years.

A colony ship is dispatched to the planet Crienttorb, a large planet with food described as "of the gods" by the scientic staff.

Something mysterious is detected on Rakperangny Ic. Dr. Dietrich is dispatched to investigate.

Arachnotopia is successfully colonized. A method to keep the giant spiders at bay is being tested.

The Hahdiinspaan and the Buzzards enter a non-agreement pact, causing many to be concerned.

The Trinikans give us a payment to establish a two-way active sensor link.

The Kitsu tell the Diplomatic Corps that they are not happy with the way the Buzzards operate.

Rakperangny Ic has an abnormal amount of chronitron fields around it, and Dr. Dietrich concludes that this planet is not in its correct time.

Buzzard-Hahdiinspaan relations continue to worry both the UN and the Kitsu.

The UN responds by beginning to restock the Navy.

Dr. Dietrich discovers strange transmissions from Rakperangny II, and decides to investigate it.

Dr. Zhivenkov begins work on refining a strange gas one of the science ships discovered.

Dr. Cao discovers pirates in the Hucuco system.

Dr. Dietrich is shocked to learn of non-corporeal beings inhabiting Rakperangny II -- now also known as Tollok Rang. Before he knows it, Dr. Dietrich accidentally agrees to transport the species to another gas giant.

It is now possible to create armies of cyberneticaly enhanced arachnids on Arachnotopia. A few are commissioned into service.

Long-delayed research on spacefaring organisms finally get completed.

The gas creatures are moved to their new home.

Remains of old robots are found on Crienttor Prime.

Research on better armor, based on debris picked up from the Buzzards, begins.

Dr. Dietrich passes away. A funeral for the inventor of the warp drive is held in Stuttgart, his hometown.

Replacing him on the UNS Gagarin is Dr. Jianfeng He.

Dr. Batista continues to research further military technology.

In a disturbing turn of events, the Blessed Parid Alliance breaks the non-aggression pact.

As a result, we decide to enter a defensive pact with the Trinikan Partnership. They then propose a migration treaty as well. We accept.

Another strange world is found. Research on it is deferred for a while.

Dr. Zheng starts work on applications on terraforming. Dr. Zhivenkov, after her project on gas, begins to work on more weaponry for the Navy.

In a strange turn of events, the Trinkans enter into a non-aggressive pact with the Blessed Parid Alliance. It seems as if peace will persist for now.

Dr. Dietrich's notes have been uncovered, some pages covered in paranoid ramblings about a mysterious creature. Although some in the scientific community dismiss it as the senile rantings of an old man, eventually a project is put in place to see if there is any truth to these ramblings.

The General Assembly meets to discuss a few topics.

GENERAL ASSEMBLY
It's time to vote on two topics:
First, what Prosperity Tradition should we pursue:

  • Standard Construction Templates, which reduce ship and building costs by 15%
  • Trans-Stellar Corporations, which unlocks the Private Colony Ship

Also, Dr. Batista, our head of Engineering Research, wants to know if he should pursue researching cruisers or robots.
