Today, 14:45 EST, 18:45 GMT I guess.

Televised on Fox Sports 1 in America.

The mighty Manchester Reds are trying to win the Europa League for the first time in their history and as such backdoor their way into next season's UEFA Champions League. They would also become only the fifth club in history to win all of the major European trophies, i.e. not the Intertoto Cup.

Ajax have already qualified for the Champions League next season by virtue of finishing second in the Eredivise which is like finishing 14th in a real league. They have won the Europa League/UEFA Cup in their history, in 1992, shortly before football was invented.

Ajax are a team full of exciting, attack-minded young players and Manchester United are a team of expensive players who will probably play in a 4-6-0 shell and try to Mourinho a 1-0 win.

Expect a match of football with at least one team wearing red. I have no loving clue who's going to win.

We had not left it yet, but when I would wake in the night, I would lie, listening, homesick for it already.

As an Arsenal fan i know care about this match as it's a legitimate competition that any big club would be proud to be in

This but Old Speckled Hen and some sort of wheat beer if I get really excited and need a second drink. Also I'm off bedtime duty with the kid tonight so it's officially Football Time in the sebzilla house.

Agreed. It's a hell of a competition and I personally can't wait for those European Thursday nights in Kyrgyzstan.

Today seems tailor-made for a Manchester United win that will be couched in feel-good terms regardless of how good or bad the actual match is. I'll be surprised if Ajax put up a fight.

Ajax: Onana; Riedewald, De Ligt, Sanchez, Veltman; Ziyech, Schone, Klaassen; Younes, Dolberg, Traore.
Subs: Boer, Tete, Westermann, De Jong, Van der Beek, Kluivert, Neres.

Manchester United: Romero; Valencia, Smalling, Blind, Darmian; Herrera, Fellaini; Mata, Pogba, Mkhitaryan; Rashford.
Subs: De Gea, Fosu-Mensah, Lingard, Carrick, Jones, Martial, Rooney.

No real surprises there.

I think it was more that the crowd did the silence when the players lined up for it, and then when someone came on the tannoy to announce the silence everyone assumed it was finished and went into chanting while the players awkwardly stood there
