2015 Thread 2014 Thread 2013 Thread I was just 3 days from retirement... So, I want to take goons through their hockey career using NHL 17. I am going to create you in NHL 17, and track your progress until you retire, NHL 18 comes out, or my wife divorces me. Last time, I started early in March, had to start over twice, and eventually finished in late July. As far as player creation goes, I will randomly assign them Overall ratings and potential grades. Once I get a list of players, I will place you on a CHL team, or have you come up through the ranks in college or overseas, and you'll get entered into the first 4 draft classes. Some may have to be in the CHL and AHL for a short time, and there may be somebody I randomly select that has high enough stats to get into the NHL immediately. I ran some test BAPs with different potentials and Overall ratings that helped me know what should work and so I won't have to start over again. Last year, I bumped everyone up way too high and had like 40 superstars. This time, it is going to be more spread out. There will be some superstars, some role players, and some career AHLers. I will focus player creation on the player type you choose (SNP get high shooting accuracy, PLY get high passing, etc). Also, this year I am asking for a character trait or 1 attribute you want to customize to add into your character. Or even, a real-life hockey player to model your play after. For example, in the past, Pleads has been a PIM machine (so, I would set his discipline low), or you want to be the next Iafrate/McInnis/Chara (so you would get 99 Slap Shot Power), or you are a multi-concussed goon who only knows how to check (so, you would get a high Checking rating). You don't have to use one of these three, so be creative if you would like. Depending on my time, I may be able to get some screenshots. No promises, though. Last year I did two stat updates a season, at the All-Star Break and at the end of the Regular Season. That seemed to work out well, and certainly cuts down my time needed to work on this. I will still check transactions on December 1st and at the Trading Deadline, and post any notable transactions. I will also be bringing back a Google Spreadsheet with everyone's stats (and a special surprise). Unfortunately, the All-Star Game and the Prospects game did not make the transition to NHL 17. However, some things are a tad easier or more transparent, so that's a plus. I will figure out a way to track All-Star Game appearances, though. This year I am going to cut off registration at 35, and this time I mean it. I can create as many as 4 draft classes, so I will try and spread out the players as much as I can. Also, keep up with this thread, it's disappointing and unfair to other posters for people to post characters and then never post again. I know making Twitter accounts was the cool thing last time around, but this time, I'm not going to be putting time into that aspect of it. If you want to, that's fine. fits posted:does this game do one lottery ball for the draft or is it top three? I haven't pinpointed exactly when the lottery is "done" in-game. When it gets posted, it is too late, and if I save/reload the day before it is always the same outcome. So, I don't know exactly. Last year I think we had #7 move up to #1 twice
