Don't forget the roof mounted .50 and the smoke shells, the latter of which have proven particularly useful. Case in point the other day I found myself on the wrong end of a Tiger II at distance in open terrain. Decided to YOLO it and popped some smoke in their face. https://i.imgur.com/8d9Ugmk.mp4 Charged across an open field. https://i.imgur.com/bOglpFq.mp4 Got a flanking shot in. https://i.imgur.com/NG2sV3u.mp4 Oh and don't worry about those Tigers, they got rekt too. https://i.imgur.com/ZnkyTGL.mp4 Now in fairness, had the opposing players been paying attention I should have been killed on the charge or failing that definitely popped by one of the two Tiger Is, but hey, the humble smoke shell turned things around.

All of the stabilized Shermans benefit from nearly-suicidally-aggressive play with smoke. The Jumbos are just fun on a bun when played like that.

War Thunder is a gateway drug. What you guys need is to also expand into other games. (Joke. WT is great, it's my first love.) Still, check out other flying games and start losing money in sim gear. Call this the quarterly recruitment post. https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSQOrFyiMlYgpCPaCkB2E6i52UptYSRMlGQoa1pWnEy&s All this you can partake in by joining the Discord at: https://discord.gg/airgoons Thread: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3633891 But most of the activity nowadays is on Discord. AIR GOON RECRUITMENT First type of event: quote:The Long Afternoon War, a dynamic, player commanded war that combined DCS, Arma 3, Microsoft Flight Simulator, and Command: Modern Operations into one game! It is mainly played in DCS. Played every Saturday. SECOND EVENT MERCENARY CAMPAIGN, Brownwater Corporation. Played mostly on Sundays. quote:Ludicrous plot lines, lots of free planes, crazy stuff, insane plot, and even more. Played mostly on Sunday in DCS. Very newbie friendly! THIRD EVENT: quote:FALCON BMS, The original, the free, the legendary. The absolute queen of F-16 simulation. Older than most, yet better in so many ways.

There’s folks who play MSFS and DCS with an xbox controller. You can also get real solid sticks now for 120 bucks that will serve in the most serious pits. And on the cheaper end, sticks for a 50 dollar bill. And bunch of goons will drag you to the finish line if you just ask for help learning.

Man, the ground grind is way harder than the air and I'm only just now at rank 6. Is there some GRB equivalent to ground pounding for air? Anything to squeeze even a few more RP per game would make this a bit more bearable.

Point capping is the simgular most rewarding ground rb action. Getting in the front lines and duking it out successfully gives you more than being an elite sniper.

Actions have diminishing returns. Time played with a correspondingly high activity is, by far, how you earn most of your points.

If you're trying to rank up rapidly the US and USSR are good choice to main in, as their main mediums (the M4 and T-34 respectively) are strong brawlers that pack a punch and can push hard on points and easily flip around for a flank n' spank. Plus they have enough variants that should your tank get blown up, you have at least one or two other variants you can hop into. The M4 is the better tank but the USSR aircraft are generally better for the ground RB meta. Germany doesn't brawl so well but the Panzer IV F2 and up packs excellent firepower. You can also opt to live the StuG life if you fancy life as an ambush predator but its tricky to play aggressively and take points. Great Britain specialises their tanks hard so you're either absurdly fast and made of paper, or absurdly slow and almost indestructible, but always with mediocre firepower and an appalling reverse speed. If you try and rank up with Britain it will take forever and suck the whole time.

GB has some great tanks surrounded by some filler tanks, but the biggest problem is that they are the most vulnerable to Gaijin’s seeming unwillingness to have solid shot, APDS, or HESH perform consistently at literally any level.

https://forum.warthunder.com/t/planned-battle-rating-changes-for-april-2024/97071 Most of the MiG 15s, 17s and Sabers went down 0.3 in BR . Sucks to be the 7.0 and 7.3 jets that are suddenly gonna face F-86As and MiG-15s. I wonder why they're pushing it all down though. Were those planes getting whacked by an undertiered missile?

Absolutely, I would be quite agreeable to the notion of upping the potency of solid shot/APDS somewhat to help represent the fact that having 8 kilograms of metal enter the fighting compartment at 900 metres a second is generally contrary to the good performance of said vehicle. Some interesting changes in the BR list, lots of the early T-34s going up to 4.0 and the M18 Hellcat and its variants all going up to 6.0.

Captain Stalin posted:https://forum.warthunder.com/t/planned-battle-rating-changes-for-april-2024/97071 Probably. There are huge jumps in missile and plane capabilities within the over-compressed post-war BRs, so any adjustment is only going to shift the suffering somewhere else. Today it's the Me 262, F-80, and Mig 9's turn to be broken on the wheel.

They really can’t fix it without probably a full 2.0 lift in the overall airRB cap, though. The compression is really really bad.

I've got an inkling it also counts "different" activities higher. Like I've had 10+ kill matches that were at 85%, and then matches with 5 kills, 2 assists, and a couple caps that were 97% so I think it's diminishing returns on doing the same thing the whole game
