The future is here! Through the magic of computers you can turn your uninspired dreams into lovely low-resolution plastic reality. As it turns out, when presented with this miracle of modern technology most people wind up downloading their favorite cartoon character or stupid spinning things to keep their spergy hands occupied.

But not this captain of industry! No, I've chosen instead to develop audacious designs of breathtaking vision and have brought them to life with the power of Open Source Hardware.

whats ur thingiverse? did you just steal that from https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:306139 op

I feel you though, 3d modelling is really hard :(
It's a good thing http://www.openscad.org so nerds like us can program designs instead of requiring creative skills

The utility of a 3D printer is heavily dependent upon your ability to create your own designs in 3D. Buying a 3D printer when you can't use the tools to create models is like buying a 2D printer without the ability to type up your own documents.

And yes of course I just downloaded a thing from thingiverse, who has time to learn how to use 3D design tools.

If I was still tinkering with my 3d printer this might have been interesting

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/polymaker/polysmooth-and-polysher-3d-prints-without-layers

though tbh my 'huge cookpot w/ glass lid on portable hotplate, done outside in the yard' setup did well enough for hobbyist-ing

I printered up a CNC wood mill that actually mills wood.

Now my printer is loving up and I don't know why. Replaced nozzle and running another print and hoping for the best.

This part right here is the magical bit. The nozzle design underneath sucks the gently caress out of that dust.

what's your budget? and is this for job stuff or hobby stuff? i.e. is it worth spending significantly more to get a more reliable machine that doesn't require much calibration, or can you spend time hacking around and absorb the occasional failed part?

a hoax in the sense that they believed there was no climate change, or a hoax in that those advocating climate change are largely looking to enrich themselves at the expense of the developing world?
