So did they know this thing was a labyrinth when they used it to power their city, or is the cube lost ancient technology even to the lost ancients?

Have you got enough backbench to make its own party, at this point? I like the rare game that can make multiple parties work.

Oh lord. What, regular old knifemurder isn't holy enough for the church anymore?

Oh, I like how you can still get support abilities from people not in your current party, even if they are otherwise occupied.

Ah, it's tactical smug. You need to watch yourself around that, you can blow a hole in your personality.

I do like how our burgeoning party has some sympathy with the person who walked out on the notional protagonist.

Oh, interesting. Do any of the other Sun Doors get extra challenges as you progress the game?

I have to hand it to Gilbert, he finds some way to keep going. If he were a protagonist, it would be kind of admirable.

I like to think that the reason that sword is so powerful is that Cassius used it for so long he beat himself into it.

I'm not complaining about this at all, but it really feels like this game is just all the sidestories they ever wanted to tell but couldn't find a way to work in.

Have we really only got one empty spot in the party roster for Estelle? it seemed like we had a long ways to go not that far back.

Dang, that's an awful lot of levels for juniors. I suppose it's the attitude? Also it wouldn't be much of a credible Agate fight otherwise.

Okay, that's a pretty great powerup. It makes for some nice foreshadowing, but I dunno if that's going to pay off.

I like to imagine that the prize effect is Estelle hooking a fishing line onto her staff and beating people with it from a distance.

Okay, I like the dynamic they've got going with Estelle here.

So is it possible to have two giant robots out on the field now? ...and did you have to actually fight Ghost Pater-Mater to get that crystal, or just scoop it up from the even gaze of the giant robot?

All of this fighting through the various layers has me wondering - why? Are we burning the self-styled "Lord of Phantasma" a way out? Or are they just constantly trying to kill us as hard as they can, limited by force projection?

Huh. So if we meet someone who got copied into here, are they as strong as we think they are or as strong as they think they are?

It's a shame the enemy doesn't try to knock you back into mines, but I suppose it'd be kind of irritating since precision knockback pool is a big point in the computer's advantage.

EponymousMrYar posted:It is very refreshing for them to go 'don't even start with the sob story because we're not freakin' real and you're not getting past us without a fight so let's just get this over with!' Hey man, just because these dopplegangers are trying to kill you doesn't mean they have to make you feel bad about it.

Pretty good choice for a quiz game. I imagine that means he's not going to be throwing down with the upcoming boss squad? Well, if anybody can pull double duty it'd be the fool.

I do like that this is keeping with the general sweep of Trails games having characters smarter than the player, or at least able to think of things the player is not.

There's still the question of where this all came from. The Aureole happened to grab onto some of Kevin's resentment while he was in there and it's not like he noticed the amount it took?

...so now are we playing Trails in the Tactics, a Suikoden 2 spinoff, for the tactical descent into Hell? Or did Gilbert just fuckin' train to zone like a rank newb?
