This is a pretty interesting postmortem about how everything went wrong with the way too hard TumbleSeed. I like how they imply that they would have more successful on steam if their art style was darker lol.

The best JRPG combat is mainilne SMT games. SMT4A was perfect.

I wouldn't worry too much about not being caught up with what's going on in 4A, because of some weird nonsense most people who finished SMT4 aren't up to date with the events leading up to that game lol. But yea, 4A is better in literally every single way so it's might be worth skipping.
