Our C&C kicks rear end because we're considered snobs so none of the douchebags come and hang out with us. Instead we get the really chill old dudes who only drive their classics in summer. We had a 100 car turnout at a last minute meet on monday. It's really great. I've made some of my best friends at C&C.

So uh, my boss told me today that the he and his brother (owners of the store I work at) want to give us money towards our honeymoon. I think I'm crying a little bit. Edit: Oh and Facebook reminded me that 3 years ago I was fifteen pounds heavier than when I started my new journey three months ago. So from 2014 I'd lost just shy of 45 pounds. Drove the PT this morning, it's terrible but it drives straight and stops well. I'll give it a bath and probably see if I can trade for something less horrifying. Still aiming at selling the Speed6 in the near future.

Yeah, the PT is absolutely puking the PS fluid all over the place. My buddy piped up and has a pump from his old neon so we're good on the replacement, it's just a matter of the goddamned pump being inaccessible. But no biggie, just gonna park it at Mom's for a week til I can tackle that.

The leak on the PT appears to be the pressure line. New part is $40 but gently caress that I'm gonna grab a used one at the JY. Should be like $5. Repair appears to be doable without dropping the engine as well. Gonna get this bitch rolling.

Fo3 posted:Just be glad you don't have to use special snowflake fluid like my old bmw does like pentosin chf 7.1. I needed 1.5l and it's $28/l for the modern semi synth equivalent. Even though it's pricey for the fluid, I rather pay that than risk a pump failure in it and a fluid change from old atf to that stuff seemed to have quit the complaining. Sounds like ATF is the proper fluid. Not any more expensive at Walmat.

Non PT question I muscled the AC pulley off the Miata and need to replace the bearing now. Trouble is, nobody in town stocks the bearing. So before I grab one off ebay, is there a better source for bearings I am unaware of? Will a generic 32x47x18 work? Bearing part #32bd4718dum

I didn't have my phone handy but I kneeled down while my sister turned the wheel on the PT and it was doing the same thing as in this video at 2:43 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Jmnj3bRPUI First repair attempt will be a piece of curved metal to make a patch, JB Weld and some hose clamps. If that works I will just roll with it, if not we'll buy the line and swap it out.

I don't want to start a new thread for this yet so here will work for now. Two years ago I suggest an AI Rally around the country. But we needed a disposable car to do it in. Well now I have this PT Cruiser and should it survive until next spring, I want to give the rally a shot. We'll have to work on logistics (insurance and whatnot) but basically I drive 3-400 miles to the next Goon, hand off the car and then catch a ride home, documenting the entire experience with a dashcam and blog posts. The next goon does the same until the car burns up or it makes it through every state possible. Probably not Alaska though. Even if the pT doesn't last til then, I really want to do this.
