I think there was an increasing amount of heat on KSA wrt to human rights abuses and wahabbiasm. This is a chance to say hey it's not us it's them! while also trying to isolate what could become/is a significant regional who is also allies with iran

I think mythbusters did a couple crash tests in one of their episodes and a 20mph crash with no restraint or protection can impart over 150G of acceleration to you, which is 50G over the fatal threshold. I think 40mph is something like 450G.

Basically if you're a pedestrian/unrestrained person in a car, and you get hit in a crash over ~10mph, it's a real coinflip whether you live through it.

40mph crashes are more often than not fatal to restrained occupants w/o airbags, because the sudden deceleration of the seat belt running out of slack will kill you.

Nah dude there's a big move in London at least to have more 20mph zones because of how much less likely you are to die. Energy of the impact is proportional to the square of speed so small changes in speed have big differences

They wouldn't. I went to an amazing talk on litvenyenko and they basically only picked up the alpha radiation because someone at porton down was bored and couldn't think of what else to test for.
