I'm in OKC and went to the OKC Dodgers' AAA game tonight. The Dodgers' starter, Wilmer Font, pitched really well.

As a flyball pitcher, it can be tough to make sure those Arial balls don't land for hits. Good for him.

Something I didn't know is that four-homer games are rarer (17) than perfect games (23)..

It probably happened just after the deadball era (assuming we're calling that 1800s-1920). Most of the 20s through 40s have homerun rates/game that are less than half of what we have now, and there were also half as many teams so a full slate was only 8 games.

I ran some numbers and if we assume 1 homerun/game on average, which meshes with that era, the likelihood of having 8 games with no homeruns is 1 in 2980. Roughly estimating 100 days/season having full schedules means it would be likely to happen in 30 seasons. In contrast, this season we have a HR rate of 2.46/game (!!!), and having 15 games with no homeruns is a 1 in 10^16 chance. So if it happened, it very likely wasn't anytime recently, but who knows. You can't predict baseball, Suzyn.

V: I guess Loria saw how the Mets were distracting everybody on the "Horrible team mismanagement" front and are gonna try to sneak a few moves in.

EDIT: Uhhhhh I didn't realize how wretched Adeiny has been at the plate his entire career, this isn't as odious as I thought?

Hechavarria will also have a soft spot in my heart because he made the dinger machine go off in the next-to-last at-bat of the Marlins game I went to. Thanks Adeiny.

You could really see the difference last season after the Sox ditched Flowers for Alex Avila and DIoner Navarro. Flowers also outhit both of them last year and I've just looked it up and he's hitting .331 this season??? What a goddamn mistake that was.

You joke but the ejection was him basically just saying 1 word to the ump and he was gone. So Renteria really, really wanted to go home early.

If you listen to the audio you can hear him saying "I wasn't arguing balls and strikes!" and he calls the umpire a disgrace but also "loving bullshit" so I dunno
