Both Smith and Sanders were absolute locks for the Hall of Fame and are in the conversation of top RB's of all time. From past conversations on these forums, the general feeling is that Gore is nowhere near a lock for the HoF like those guys were, despite having a body of work that is comparable (not equal but certainly comparable).

Unfortunately Gore got injured the season after posting his 4th consecutive 1k+ yard season. He only played 11 games, and still hit 850 yards. And then went on to post 4 more consecutive 1k+ yard seasons. This streak ended in his 1st year with the Colts (even though he still rushed for 967 yards) but last year he came back at the age of 33 to post another 1k yard season.

I'm torn because I love Gore but I really don't want him to pass Tomlinson all time

LDT's 2003 year where he had 100 catches and over 700 receiving yards, while AT THE SAME TIME posting 1645 rushing yards is the most :stare: thing I have seen.

I still think LdT's 2003 is still more impressive than his 1800 yard 31 TD performance in 2006 just because of the lack of talent around him in 2003. He was the only weapon on the team, every opposing defense knew it, and he still put up those numbers.

Drew Brees was so loving bad that year that he got benched for a midget halfway through the season and Philip Rivers was drafted a few months later

As he walked off the field, dozens of media members wanted to know what was going through number 17’s mind. Moreover, how sad of an occasion was the final practice at the facility?

“Sad to me is probably too strong of a word,” he corrected them. “There are a lot of things that are sad that people are dealing with. Sad is probably a little too strong. But (it’s been) emotional…. Sad is not the word, but I think thankful. Shoot, it’s been awesome.”

While it is bittersweet to say goodbye to a place that has meant a lot to him professionally and personally, the quarterback explained what excites him as he heads north to LA.

“I think anything that is new is exciting. What’s the atmosphere going to be like at the first home preseason game? What’s the training camp site (going to be like). All those things. Anything new is always exciting. The unknown. As you’ve seen, once you get out practicing around the guys, things do seem normal. We will find that new normal moving up the road. We’re coming off two tough years, but it’s a team that fully expects to win a lot of football games. I’m really looking forward to it.”

There’s a famous Latin saying that Rivers has adopted as over the years.

Nunc Coepi – Now We Begin.

As he packs up his locker and gets ready for training camp to begin next month, he noted the motto may ring true now more than ever.

“It is only right for me to be fired up to go up there, and know that everyone up there is going to get the same guy that I’ve been here for the last 13 years.”

I love my quarterback

Football outsiders released their defeat numbers for last year: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2017/2016-defeats

A defeat is:

A tackle that results in a loss of yardage, including sacks.
Any play that results in a turnover, including tipped passes which are then intercepted.
Any tackle or tipped pass that leads to a stop on third or fourth down.

And no surprise, overall Khalil Mack and Von Miller were the best players last year.... except that there were two Bills in the top 5 because their run defense was feast or famine. Their run D was like Barry Sanders. If they didn't get a stop behind the line, they averaged giving up 5.6 yards per carry.

The giants also had the top CB and top safety while Aaron Donald and Suh topped the list for non-edge rushing linemen.

The Chargers have quite a bit of individual defensive talent
