The Labor senator Sam Dastyari contradicted Labor party policy on the South China Sea a day after influential Chinese billionaire Huang Xiangmo threatened to withdraw a promised $400,000 donation to the party, Four Corners has alleged. The program, by Faifax’s Nick McKenzie, reports that Huang took exception to comments made by the then Labor defence shadow, Stephen Conroy, that Australia’s defence force should be able to conduct freedom of navigation operations in the disputed area. After Huang threatened to cancel the donation, Dastyari told the Chinese mediathat Australia shouldn’t interfere with China’s activities in the South China Sea. When the comments were reported, Dastyari denied he had split with the party on the policy, saying he wasn’t responsible for the way it was reported.

Taking away peoples work for the same pay has been found in hypotheticals to leave people unsatisfied and without direction - they want to work. This is countered that the B is Basic and further money can be obtained thrpigh work but the places this question has been run have been for example dying coal towns where there is no work and all they know is gone which is why a UBI is a consideration at all. It is a serious conundrum.

http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/new...616-gwsmld.html To start with, Mark* seemed unremarkable in the extreme. He had a full-time job and a girlfriend. And if you happened to pass him on the street or in the supermarket, nothing would grab your attention. You likely wouldn't recall his slightly awkward manner. Outwardly, there was nothing to suggest he was a highly organised, and dangerous troll. The first time I hit the button on my digital recorder back in 2015, after he agreed to an interview, naivety reigned. I wasn't even afraid. Before long though, a deep unease was washing over me. Mark was – and is – far more dangerous than I'd imagined a troll possibly could be. During that first interview, he revealed himself as a member of a powerful, international trolling syndicate. The group systematically goes after people and tries to ruin their lives. They try to get people fired. They take part in swatting. They try to incite vulnerable people to harm themselves. Mark openly admits targeting people with autism and those with mental illnesses. "Some people should kill themselves because they're generally pieces of poo poo," Mark says. He tells me about trolling rape victims and the Facebook memorial pages of those who have died by suicide. He gives me the example of attacking the page of a young girl who was killed by a train. He tries and succeeds to upset her loved ones by calling her a "train hugger". "If it's a page of someone who's died, you're going to get an emotional reaction," he says.

Despite posting revenge porn, telling rape victims they "deserve" it and doxing (publishing personal documents online) women, Mark says he's not misogynistic and actually prefers to troll men. "I knew you were going to get into this," he says when I press him on the issue, "you've got an agenda." Sometimes, Mark says, he examines my social media feeds and reads my published articles. On the attack, he asks me: "Do you really believe the poo poo you write?" And then a few seconds later: "You're stuck in your social justice bubble and you can't see the truth. "There's a big, big culture of cyberhate against men. Especially white men. Like I have less rights than you because I'm white and male." That's right. In all of this mess, Mark sees himself as a target.

Clive Palmer has defended taking his family and friends on an expensive Mediterranean cruise a month after complaining of health problems during a court hearing. The former federal MP appeared at a federal court hearing in Brisbane in May clutching a vomit bag and using a breathing apparatus and a pillow while giving evidence to liquidators of his Queensland Nickel company. Photos emerged on Monday showing Palmer and his family boarding the 24-day, $10,000-a-head cruise in Spain.

Meanwhile in NSW Greyhound trainers continued to give their dogs arsenic, cocaine and cobalt in the eight months after the New South Wales government reversed its ban. Twenty trainers have been charged and convicted of offences involving prohibited substances by Greyhound Racing NSW since mid-October, stewards reports show. Their punishments have ranged from small fines of $625 to 12-month suspensions. In one case, trainer Sonia Kempshall was fined $750 after three of her dogs were found with arsenic in their system. Those dogs have collectively won more than $60,000 in prize money.

Australian Taxation Office deputy commissioner Michael Cranston allegedly told his son how to avoid being prosecuted for tax fraud, saying he could "mount a good case" for his eldest child that may throw investigators off. Mr Cranston, 57, is captured in phone intercepts allegedly suggesting that Adam Cranston should tell a judge that he is not "the real director" of the fraudulent scheme's parent company and canvassing the possibility his son may be pursued for "unexplained wealth".
